I like most birds, especially the songbirds and brilliantly coloured ones.

However, there are some birds that I prefer to avoid - the emu and the cassowary. The emu will only mug you for your lunch but the cassowary might decide to kill you.

I really like the five fluffy little french hens that have made their home in my backyard. I am now their primary carer and they give me much amusement but not much in the way of eggs. Still, each has her own name and personality.

Immense pleasure can be had by having birds in our gardens. The chirrups, the flitting hither and thither, the morning and evening bird song.
