How far would you go in this situation?

Say a casual friend called you and happened to mention in the conversation that his/her refrigerator was on the fritz. Even if he/she didn't ask directly, would you volunteer to let him/her use yours until it was fixed or replaced? What if they did ask directly? Give the reason(s) for your answer.
When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

My frig usually is usually to full to accommodate anything more than an item or two but I would offer that.

    1. Maybe. If it occurred to me, and I had space available.
    2. Yes, but I keep mine pretty full.

It depends on how casual the friend was, and where they lived. Unless they lived really close to me, it wouldn't be easy to access the food when needed. I also have a small fridge, and it's usually pretty full, but I'd probably try to make room if it was a good friend who lived close by.

I have a chest freezer besides my refrigerator which usually has some extra space . I would offer to keep at least some of the things that freeze well. I would like to know when they intended to have the refrigerator fixed. I always need the extra space for the holidays or during the summer so I would let them know this is not for long term storage.

    I don't have any friends.

I really wouldn't have room, so it wouldn't be an issue.

Our fridge is small and always full. We don't even have a cooler to lend anyone. I would suggest buying a cheap Styrofoam cooler and a load of ice, and then go find a new fridge.

If they lived near me I would offer them to use mine until they got theirs repaired. I did have a neighbor let another neighbor use her freezer until they bought one
Because she was out one day and the neighbor needed to get something out of the freezer things went crazy .The neighbor said she needed to be told when the other neighbor went out and also wanted the key to her house. That was the end of that relationship.

My fridge freezer is quite compact but, if I had space, I would probably help just for a few days

My wife keeps our refrigerator pretty full. We do often times have room in the freezer in our garage. If I felt the friend was sincere and really in need, here's what I'd probably do. I'd invite them to use space in our garage freezer for the items that would need to be kept frozen. Then, I'd offer to buy a mini-fridge for their temporary use. You can buy a pretty nice mini for around $80. When done with it, I'd put it in my basement shop area to keep water and sodas in down there. To me, that would alleviate any access problems for them needing things if we were out for a while.
