    Eurovision Song Contest 2018

Eurovision has a big audience in Australia, so much so that we been invited to enter for four years now. Who knew that OZ was part of Europe?

Our entrant this year is Jessica Mauboy and she has made it to the grand final which has just started. She will be performing 16th out of 26 performers and there is a very complicated voting process to decide the winner. It is an achievement to be listed in the top 10.

    WHY IS AUSTRALIA IN EUROVISION?

Since 2015, singers from the other side of the world have been taking part in Eurovision.
Australia was invited to take part in a gesture of good will for the show’s 60th anniversary, which had a ‘Building Bridges’ theme.

Guy Sebastian was welcomed as a special guest. He came fifth with his song Tonight Again, but when former Australian X Factor contestant Dami Im took part in 2016, eyebrows were raised.

She came second with her song Sound of Silence. Then Isaiah Firebrace performed in 2017. He came ninth.

Jessica is an Indigenous Australian. It is 5.30am here right now and I am awake and watching to see how she performs.

Yes the first year Australia took part we were all looking at each other in astonishment saying...since when was Australia part of Europe?...It's on tv in the background here now... it's 10pm and ''live''... and our girl has just had her song ruined by a protester on stage who grabbed her mic from here and shouted something about Nazi's as she started to sing...

That is a shame. She sounded very good when she started.

Yes, she had the choice to sing again, but she's refused. I don't blame her....not that the Uk had any chance of winning anyway , I think the last time we won was in the 70's..lol

    Thanks Jim

I keep reminding myself that this is a song contest, not a talent quest. Of course the song has to be sold by the performers and for this reason I don't think Jessica has much of a chance against some of the slicker presentations. Whoever designed her dress needs shooting.

Oh Oh. Our girl came last on the phone in vote. That is very disappointing given the reaction of the audience.
