MY Mom and dad both died in their 90's and were smokers for years. Their longevity was my rationality for smoking from age 20 to age 55. I got on a fitness kick and just decided to quit. I was lucky That I never developed lung cancer, instead I got non related to smoking PROSTATE CANCER.

I quit for the last time in 2004. Per DR's orders.

Had a chest x-ray last year they said my lungs looked like I never smoked.

Your body can heal; but do what the Dr. says.

Jim, I think you'd be nuts, if you didn't try Ken's idea of harmonica therapy!

My father was a chain smoker for most of his adult life, 18-60. Then the doctor found some white spots in the back of his throat at about 60 and my father stopped smoking cold turkey. He died of stomach cancer at 82. I mentioned to my own doctor how it was ironic that he died of cancer but not related to lungs. She said that we each have ''weak organs'' and those are the ones affected. I've made a lot of dumb mistakes in my life, but am glad I never smoked. ONE positive for me!
