Thing with my husband is, as you recall, he went through major cancer surgery in June. TWO months ago, and his doc decides to suggest yet another surgery? My husband's eating habits have improved drastically, as have mine. I think we both resented the docs suggestion

On another group a member just sent thru her horror story on a gastric bypass...she is in a wheelchair and is only 42. I don't know her weight from the beginning, she didn't say but a by pass is serious...her stomach imploded when she g ot home and she is on a long long course of abx drugs. NEVER get to that point.

So sorry about this Marie....I'm a new member here so wouldn't have known about his cancer surgery.....in that case, yeah, I might have taken that doc's suggestion as really rude, offensive and pushing it Glad to hear you're both doing okay xo

Goodbye July, hello hot month of August.....

No worries. What upset him is that is doctor DID know he was still, in effect recovering from major surgery. Just pissed him off. You are cool.

I don't anyone in my personal life who has done this surgery, just this online person. BUT I would avoid all surgeries if possible...take off weight sensibly with the food eliminations we don't need. We get plenty of carbs from some of our veggies. All the other simple carbs are a waste.

When people are that size, there is a lot more going on with them than simple overeating. I have seen the show but found it profoundly depressing.

I've watched that show a few times, and it is amazing that people would allow themselves to get in such shape. I suppose there are a few that have some clinical issue that contributes to their excessive weight gain, but the majority seem to bring this condition on themselves. We go to the casino's several times a year, and usually eat at the buffet. Invariably, there is someone sitting nearby who shovels food into their mouths as fast as they can swallow it, and goes back for 2nd's, third's, and if we sit there long enough...4th's....and everyone of them has more "butt" hanging over the sides of the chair than on it. People who do that to themselves are missing something between their ears.

Don, how true. People LOVE food. I like food, but no love affair with food. j
