    Most times I'm number three on the list;

    'Grin: Silent, controllable, but uses more facial muscles (e.g., eyes begin to narrow);'

    John, I would call that a 10 1/2.....between a guffaw and a howl.....just a knee-jerk guess!

    I'm usually in the #3 to #4 category.

    3. Grin: Silent, controllable, but uses more facial muscles (e.g., eyes begin to narrow);
    4. Snicker: First emergence of sound with facial muscles, but still controllable

    But if something is really funny I can get up to #8 (but without any barking or snorting).

    8. Laugh: Involves facial and thoracic muscles as well as abdomen and extremities; sound of barking or snorting;

    I'm more in the #4 to #6 Range.

    #4:Snicker: First emergence of sound with facial muscles, but still controllable

    #6: Chuckle: Involves chest muscles with deeper pitch;

    I very seldom accelerate past #8. I never use LOL, because it would be a lie!

    Belly starts to wiggle, then a giggle, full blown laugh out loud....followed by a coughing fit.
    I ate beans and onions....ended up with tear gas.
