History books remember these events but people, not so much.

    Agree completely.

I think more people do remember than don’t. The dates may not be honored as they should be, however, I know the dates that we (us seniors) remember and show our respect for, are still in the history books. I have a problem remembering a few dates myself, such as: VE, VJ and the date, not the year for WW II, which ended in 1945.

    And yet, here you are.

FYI, the anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11 is still meaningful to some of us.

Let us also not forget all the members of the US armed forces, our allies, their families, and innocents on the ground (known as "collateral damage") whose lives, limbs and peace of mind have been shredded in the many years of war that have followed that terrible day.

We were teens then and kept wondering; WHY JAPAN? Couldn't get it through our heads.

I always know it's coming before it gets here. I stay home on 9/11 ever since that year. I remember that day and think of what we've done because of 9/11...good and bad. With my parents it was the Great Depression and WWII that made the most impression on their lives. With me...JFK assassination, Viet Nam war, 9/11 and the mess we're in the last couple of years.

If you don’t want to remember that’s your choice but why come to this thread to try and ruin it for others who DO wish to remember?

Would it not be easier for you to simple ignore this thread since you now know what it’s about?

I don't need to; it's "tatooed" in my memory and my heart.
