    I almost always say kids. *shrug* No big deal to me.

    Like Ronni, I refer to the whole bunch of them as "kids."

    We still call them "the kids", they are 54 and 56. We also have grandkids in their 20s.
    My sister has great grandkids.

    One of the definitions of "kid" is "child". The idea that kid is slang is a rather archaic notion. It is acceptable in contemporary English today.
