Why So Serious?

The world needs more love
I'm happy that everyone has different tastes. I find it funny how some people tend to defend their choices (on so many things - sadly I include myself in this category at times). Breathe in, breathe out, relax it will be okay.

Is it that we feel people have to agree with us to validate our own choices? Is it pride?

Let's live in peace as much as it's possible, although your Chevy truck still isn't as nice as my Ford. ;)

"Live in peace"??? Yea, right! When someone puts down something I like, I speak about it. Just like when I put down something that others think is ok, I can get jumped on in a reply.

Wife and I aren't that, if at all, open minded towards a number of things today...…….and we hear about that.

Criticism is just a part of being on a forum.

Please continue... your among friends, why do you feel this way? I perceive a bit of hostility. Why is there a need to put someone down in the first place? ;) Actually I'm just "trying" to yank your chain.:devilish:

Oh course criticism and different viewpoints will be expressed - people are funny creatures, especially when they don't think like me.

We grew up in the most tumultuous of times, when people's opinions literally changed the course of life. We learned being silent can bring dire consequences. Speaking up is a hard habit to break.
However..............
I do see your point of sitting back for a breather of zen, though I'm not very good at it, I admire it.

I agree with you @Pepper many things are worth taking a stand on and it would be cowardly not to.

This thread isn't about those types of issues, but rather why is it in our nature to want everyone else to have the same opinions, beliefs, etc. as ourselves on things that simply don't matter?

Some people are insecure in their beliefs and have to rally others to go along for support. Some folks just can't stand alone. Sometimes folks rally 'round to bully someone who differs in opinion to make themselves feel 'right' something that can't be done by themselves. At it's worst, it's cowardly.

Well, there are just certain thing that some people plainly don't like, whether those things can be changed or not. In one way or another, everyone judges to some extent. Folks that "say" they don't judge, and that it's wrong to do so, actually judge themselves.

There are those that just "go with the flow" and those that refuse to. A number of Seniors today have seen what America/Americans have come to from the time they grew up and simply don't like it.

The thread about the boy with the hair is being "judgmental", but many of us gave our opinions about it. Some opinions, aka "judgements" were understood, whereas some were not. Jesus was brought into the thread and look what happened with some replies.

It's sort of like a big shove for some to change the opinions of others.

Well I like a good debate . Unfortunately I can certainly cross the line from respectful to unruly however I don’t rally in others. I bully all by myself and own my bullying tactics.

I am learning to socialize much better though.
At least , I hope. I’m all for peace, serenity and all that but sometimes that gets boring . 😬🥺Lol

grief if we all agreed all the time non stop -we would fall asleep f bordom zzzzzz-having a debate to air your thoughts
is like a pressure cooker with steam ''that is the reason we have forums (y)
and its healthy to disagree with someone ' but not to lose your rag as us brits say !!

We're the first generation that was into the 'net'. Before us, you could write "Letters to the Editors"., but that was the best for most of the 20th Century. Now, we can join forums, use aliases, and 'opinion' our fingers off. And, there it was-our half baked thoughts in print on some screen. We never had that power before. We, also, learned that there were some misguided souls, who did not think exactly like we do; which ,of course, is the only logically right way. It is our duty to lovingly change the minds of those SOBs. We have to learn that we don't need to answer everything "VikingGod123" types out.

I agree it would be so boring if we all were of the same opinion all the time. Interesting to see others' opinions.

As to the question on this thread I am not one to be so serious all the time and often laugh about things and myself and others, too.

I agree it would be boring if everyone had the same views or opinions. I just find it odd that some get in a tizzy when others don't share their same mindset.

There are those that are very, very strong about their feelings about certain things. As for me, I will 100% defend what farmers and ranchers do. I've worked around livestock for numerous years and know what goes on from the day they are born to when they are slaughter/packed for grocery stores.

Go get'em tiger. I don't recall blaspheming farmers or ranchers, perhaps your beef is that I don't share your same zeal on the subject?
