Hey, All! I hope you all are having a good week so far. Does anyone notice internet and other issues? I know it's not my computer I always update, etc. I have noticed in the last few months that things are getting difficult, it's too bad. I know other people like business have to tighten security and myself also, because of hacking, and whatnot. Just a pain. Things are all changing for the most part, but I guess we just need to go with the flow of life. Otherwise, I enjoy being on the internet. I take Art classes and stuff also which is cool. I was just curious about that. I am not on Facebook anymore either. I was on there for 10 years to put up with hacking and stuff that I'm sure is still going on there was some cool stuff also but really not worth it I found out. Not good, it's not safe anymore with Facebook. I even deleted that wall and decided to have a fresh start.I never swore or anything also. I used a partial spiritual nickname with my real name. It was fine for awhile. I eventually got kicked off because of a name conflict? I had my real name on my wall anyways. Half the people on there have totally fake names, and I can see why. Too bad. I am glad I found this group, it's hard to find forums that are decent and genuine. I have researched quite a few of them. I hope you all have a great day! Lots of hugs, Cheryl Pamela

Hello, cherylpamela66. Welcome from Toronto. I think you will find this to be a safe and friendly forum.

Fb is full of problems that can be nasty if you aren't careful. I had an experience that shut down my computer completely. I now have my settings for only a handful of people to be able to contact me. I only look in there about once a week.

I am on FB everyday as my kids and most of my friends and relatives are in different states. I never have any problems, but then, I never play games or take the silly quizzes that open you up to hackers. I never open any unsolicited files or pass things forward or any of the other nonsense such as clicking on ads.

Although some of the nonsense and hate-baiting can be annoying, I would be too isolated from people I care about without it.
 
Hi Marlene, yeah, the only thing I did was play some of the games otherwise I did not do anything but talk to friends, family. That is probaly what happened, too bad. At my age I am 53 I don't mind saying that, it's not a biggie. Thank you for your feedback. I am sure I am not the only one. Hugs!

Hi Cheryl & welcome from me from the middle of Canada. Ya, I hear you about Facebook. I still have an account there but very seldom ever look at it. Best if one day I shut it down completely. I find the time there to be a wasteland of ignorance. Maybe it's because of the kind of "friends" I have or maybe it's just me. Or maybe it's all those dogs & cat photos with the dogs & cats wearing sunglasses, driving cars, bikes, etc. LOL Some how I don't fit in for the deep intellectual sharing that goes on in Facebook! I'm kidding, of course!

Hi, PackeJohn: Yeah, I hear ya loll it's a blessing actaully I hate to say it. Not too many folks were really interacting unless you chased them, loll! I can see that you all are a really nice group of senior folks to hang out with :) hugs!
 
The problems I had with the internet happened when I had Optimum. Every now and then (but too often), I'd be online then get a message that I had no connection. I've had Verizon Fios for going on three months now and have not had that problem. I login to FB using my phone number and get a text to complete the login. I may have been hacked based upon a couple of messages I received but they may have been viral forwards that people do sometimes. I not only have a firewall, but a virtual private network (VPN) and am using Brave browser that blocks ad tracking. I do feel safer using these things. Welcome to our forum. I hope you enjoy it here.

Hi, OneEyedDiva nice to meet you :) Thank you for your input also. I guess different browsers, etc. have their issues. I notice if you use a more modern browser it seems to be OK. Just don't trust FB anymore because of hacking and all the awful stuff most people post. Too bad. Oh well, life goes on we will find better ways of dealing with this stuff.
