Does Anyone Else Get Super Cold?

Every time the weather starts almost raining or raining I get really very cold, I almost can't stand it!

It's that way tonight and I have put heavy clothes on to warm and then turned the heat up in here.

But sometimes it can be 20 degrees colder and not going to rain and I am fine...

What's with this?

I know what you mean. Maybe it has something to do with the relative humidity?

It was about 40 this afternoon when I went for a walk but it felt much colder. It was cloudy and a bit breezy, which didn't help. I didn't even want to go, but I was overdue.

So, the peeps down the road are making maple syrup for the second year; they have a commercial evaporator and sell the syrup. I'll stop there in a few weeks and get some. Ha, I remember when I was a kid my dad buying a gallon for $5. It's a bit more than that now.

Maybe it's about the humidity when it's also cold. I was outside today, too, and felt so cold.

Is their maple syrup good? Maybe it is because you will get some! ;) I haven't had any of that in a very long time. I love syrup and waffles!

I get the bad chills, but usually at home, when it's below 68°F, and I'm tossing and turning, in bed, and the covers get thrown off.

Outside, if it's chilly and humid, I sometimes get chilled to the bone to the point where I have to fire up the sauna to 215°F, and sit there for fifteen minutes, at a time.

I get chilly arms/hands after eating a big meal at Suppertime. I asked the doctor about that a few years ago, and he said that this is probably because I'm a bit skinny, and excess blood flows to the digestive tract instead of staying in the extremities after I eat. In warm weather, I just go outdoors for a bit and warm up. In the Winter, I plop into the recliner, cover myself with a cozy comforter, and watch an hour of TV...and the sensation passes.

Wish I had a sauna but I'm thinking of taking a steaming hot bath tonight..the problem is, though, I don't want to get out of my clothes to do it..I'm too cold:(;)

Your doctor makes good sense. I have a cozy blanket on the couch and I need to use it now, too. I can't seem to shake this cold feeling tonight.

I don't get cold too often, but if it's rainy or threatening to rain, especially in winter, everything will feel very cold and dank, indoors and out. I try to not get a chill on, and that helps. Once I'm chilled, I may even start to shiver, then it's hard to warm up again even under the covers or in warm clothes.

For me the key is not to let that happen. Once I think I may be getting chilled, I address it right away before it goes through my body. So, I proactively avoid chills if I think there's a threat, start putting up the heat or putting on the clothes early. I often run hot, hotter than my husband, but I do get chilled under certain conditions.

We don't have a furnace in the camper when we go camping, only use the flame on the propane stove if needed. We only go in spring and fall, but there are times when it's rainy or snow outside and it's easy to get chilled. For those times we have super warm long underwear we bought many years ago, they are also extremely comfortable, even for sleep if needed. They are not the old fashioned waffle kind, much better than that. Looks like they still sell them, not sure if they're made the same way....but they are excellent. The mid-weight ones are the best and most comfy, the heavy weight I do not recommend, different material and fit, not so comfortable.

Also, they say you lose a lot of heat through your head, so if you can handle wearing a wool cap in the house when you feel chilled, it will definitely help.

It’s about the dampness. I’m the same way on a rainy day that’s chilly out to begin with. Although, I don’t wrap up in blankets, I will put on a t-shirt under my regular shirt and then maybe a sweater vest.

Sweater vests at one time were considered something that just old people wore. I see young people at the mall on days when only a light jacket are needed, but instead, some are wearing a sweater vest.

Some medications and conditions can make it worse, but otherwise it's nothing more than "natural aging." The older a person gets, the less his or her body is able to regulate temperature. So cold might bother you more, heat might bother you more, or both!!!

I get freezing cold sometimes, usually in the Winter
when the wind is from the North, this old house has
doors that are smaller than the hole they should fill,
so I have a large dust sheet at the front door, that helps
to stop draughts coming under it.

Mike.

I've been prone to chills since I was a child. Not sure if aging is in play, with me, along homeostatic lines, yet.

medications can cause it =I never felt the cold' but iam on thinners and boy I feel it like now ---must shut the window '
been shivery for days ..you are not alone lol ….

Yes, their syrup was good (and not everybody's is).

I bought the grade below the top grade. The top grade, to me, doesn't have as much maple-ee flavor as the lower grades.

I don't use it on anything, don't want to disguise the flavor -- I drink it like whiskey!

I started having serious problem with cold 6 years ago - around the time I had substantial weight loss. My doctors said my thyroid is normal. I also told her I'm constantly hungry.
I don't know if it's due to weight loss or age - I'm 67. I'm cold whenever the termperature is under 80.
Years ago, at 405 lbs, I'd be comfortable in a short-sleeve shirt, outside when it was 45.

I'm pretty certain it's due to your weight loss that your body temperature is lower. I've gained weight over the years, and recall that when my weight was down, I didn't feel the heat in summer the way I have in latter years. Since I'm now losing weight due to my new eating regimen due to Type II diabetes, I don't feel as warm all the time.
