What is everyone doing for exercise when gyms close down?

When the work out room closed in our building I started to panic. It is still cold in Chicago but I put on my big boy pants and ran outside 3 times this week on the lakefront that is still all messed up from winter storms. For inside workouts I was struggling but decided to walk the stairs of our 55 story high rise. They are a little claustrophobic and stuffy but tried it anyway. I was sore a couple of days later but was proud that I made it. My wife made the trek later in the week. What is everyone else doing?

Getting some form of regular exercise is going to be important during this virus epidemic. Staying fit and active helps keep the bodies immune system functioning properly. With no treatment on the horizon for this illness, it becomes increasingly important for everyone to do what they can to maintain their own good health.

I walk outside 6 days/week. Don't go to the gym because of the televisions & the noise there. It's fresh country air for me. I also do floor exercises 5 days/week (Monday - Friday). I have been a walker all my life so it's really not a big deal. Find walking indoors (during storms or real bad weather) a big bore so it's outside for me where I can watch the weather, say hi to the local doggie walkers or just watch the world go by. To my way of thinking, keep fit is a great way of keeping diabetes away or at least it's part of the solution. Diet is the other factor.

Well, 7 years ago, I bought a health-club-quality elliptical. (am I spoiled or what?)
Yesterday, when I brought food & supplies to my elderly friends, I went for a 30-minute walk around the block with them. The wife is 84 & has better knees than I have at 67.

We went for a drive today, and saw lots of joggers and people walking. We're planning to start going for walks in the forest like we used to do with our dogs.
hopefully I'll be well before long and I'll be able to get out , and if they put an all non essential movement order in place, then I'll just walk in the fields and woods next to my house.. they're not forest just large woodland but better than nothing..

I have a daily walk that takes 22 minutes and includes three climbs. One of the climbs is almost 1/5th of a mile. Toss in some weighted cable work, a little yoga, and some time on a health rider. I call that good enough in these days when I am still getting hormone treatment for prostrate cancer.
