Two Dates and a Dash

Hi, My name is DeAnne – because I am an 80-year old, lighthearted chick I like the user name Chick-e-Dee. I blog about Managing Change in a Time of Transition. My purpose in posting is to help all of us uncover our strengths, gifts, and talents so we can thrive together in a time of uncertainty. You may have heard the poem “Your life is made of two dates and a dash. Make the most of the dash! Over the years thought a lot about the “Dash” and concluded that my eulogy should include the date of my birth – 1940, the date of my death (TBD), and my life story in 6 words: Always in search of shiny objects.

If I could stand before the Lord at the end of my life and tell Him that I have used up every single bit of talent He gave me, I would be satisfied.

I am married with three sons and several grandchildren. My husband and I live in Spokane WA.

Warm welcome to you, Chick-e-Dee!

Wow, Spokane, WA, a regular old haunt of ours in our younger years.
Thanks for the welcome, It is springtime in Spokane "Lilac City" and the lilac are blooming in spite of COVID-19. It is still getting down in the 30's at night and we had snow flurries less than 2 weeks ago. But, my tomatoes are going in the ground whether they like it or not. Putting down some red plastic to warm up their little feet.

Love it!

Yes, plastic things up and all should fair well.

Haven't been to Spokane in ages, but do remember one year visiting in the month of April, and the stark difference in the weather her (in BC), compared to Spokane, was like the difference between the North Pole and Hawaii! Boy, did we ever have a great time soaking up the sunshine and warm weather!

Welcome from Virginia, Chick-e-Dee (the name brings visions of W.C. Fields to mind.)

In all my travels with work, I've never been to Washington state. Lots of modern bands have been born of that area.
My hubby, Ralph is a Virginia gentleman - he was a deputy in Richmond and still have family in the area. I have never been to Virginia but he tells me the valley is beautiful. He has commented that there are mosquitos in that beautiful valley. If Spokane has mosquitos, I haven't seen them in the 15 years that I have lived here. But no fireflies either and that I miss from my Iowa upbringing.

Welcome aboard. You had landed in a good place here. Enjoy yourself.
My favorite Aunt and Uncle lived in Spokane and I enjoyed visiting that city numerous times. That river that runs through Spokane Fair Grounds is particularly beautiful. Now your winters are another matter entirely.

I briefly lived in Richmond in the early/mid 70s. Managed a Hess station there during the Odd/Even gas rationing days. Moved back to Northern Virginia for decades, and now I'm retired about 45 miles outside of Richmond.

Yeh, we got mosquitoes. But that's only to augment our wonderful humidity ;)

Welcome DeAnne, from Houston.
My son and family live in Houston, just returned from a visit there on March 11, just in time to get the "shelter in place" order from our Gov.
