Started feeling ill after a suspected bug bite Last month, I tested negative for Covid-19. This is week 3 and I’m Still feeling nauseous, weak, lethargic, No appetite, chest pain, Body aches, headache, dizzy, confused, Short breath with excretion. NO cough, No congestion, Been to ER, yesterday my Doctor has ordered heart & lung tests.

My daughter read a recent article about another women in her late 60’s with almost identical symptoms, tested negative twice for COVID. Her symptoms lasted 5 weeks before she started feeling better. I’ve tried several times to get up add force myself to push though this like I’ve done all my life, which usually works. This time it only increases the severity of my symptoms.
This is extremely frustrating not being able to fight this off. Just wondering if anyone else has Heard of similar occurrences.

Well, sorry but despite the tests it certainly sounds like the symptoms of covid-19, ....

The World Health Organisation (WHO) says the major warning signs are fever, fatigue and a dry cough.

But it says other indicators include headache, shortness of breath, general aches and pains or a sore throat. ‘

Have they tested you for West Nile Disease ?

As with nausea, headaches and fever can be symptoms of the West Nile virus, according to the World Health Organization.

If high fever and severe headaches persist after a mosquito bite, seek medical care, especially if you are over the age of 50 or immunocompromised and have a higher risk of getting seriously ill from the virus.

According to WebMD, Lyme disease symptoms also include headaches, fever, and chills, as well as other flu-like symptoms.

If left untreated, Lyme disease can cause short-term memory loss or heart problems, so seek medical help as soon as possible.

It's my understanding that there is fever with Covid. I'm sure they would have taken his temp at the E.R. But.....who knows?

i had fever & chills the first week which was what prompted me to get COVID test, but it’s a nasal swab and I have not had any nasal congestion or cough. I don’t know if there’s a blood test. Thanks for your concern & reply

There is a blood test but it does not detect Covid; it only detects antibodies to Covid, which your immune system would produce if you ever had Covid. The problem with that test is that it's so unreliable, even several doctors have said it's not worth bothering with.

Several years ago, I got a nasty mosquito bite next to my eye. The next day, my eye was swollen shut.

Shortly after that, I had a weird rash, high fever, body aches, extreme fatigue. This went on for 2 weeks. I tested negative for lyme disease, but positive for West Nile virus. I've read since then that it's fairly common. Miserable, flu-like disease. But the good news is that it does pass, and I recovered completely.

I know there exists a saliva test for covid, but I do not know what the availability is, for it.

Though, there are definitely other possibilities. I hope you will get some answers and a treatment and recovery plan!
Keep us posted, too, if you'd like. I have wondered how you are doing, recently too.

Sorry you are feeling badly. The Covid symptoms seem to vary from person to person depending on age, etc. The tests do not seem to be very reliable. Hope you get some answers soon.

I went through this as well, and the range of symptoms was weird. The rash I got was around the ankles, it looked awful but did not itch at all. My neck muscles would periodically lock tight and hurt like the devil. All of the symptoms are gone now except for my neck getting locked up every now and then for no good reason. Mine lasted for close to six weeks, and while it did not put me down hard, it was fairly miserable.

Chronic fatigue syndrome may hold keys to understanding post-Covid syndrome https://www.statnews.com/2020/07/21/chronic-fatigue-syndrome-keys-understanding-post-covid-syndrome/ via @statnews

"Some survivors of acute bouts of Covid-19 experience a range of persistent medical issues — some lasting for weeks, or even months — that include profound exhaustion, trouble thinking or remembering, muscle pain, headaches, and more. One survivor described it as feeling like she was “hit by a truck.”

Hope you get through this and feel better soon. 😘
