Your first car

Yep, I was 21, my first car was a grey 850cc mini, which my brother bought for me...

My first car was the worst piece of crap British Leyland Motors ever made: Austin America.
It overheated while waiting at red lights & stop signs, then the transmission went out at 15,000 miles. We successfully sued & the judge made them give me the whole $1,800.00 back.

My first was a worn our 53 Chevy for which I paid $50.

The guy I bought it from sold it to "Seaman Pecos" on the condition that I spend another $75 on parts and that he and I would make necessary repairs. That guy was my boss, Chief Mauer, and over my career I worked for him three more times. Years later when I first got commissioned as a Warrant Officer, he was there to give me my first salute. He was a Master Chief at that point, and it was quite an honor for me.

I drove that car for a year before selling it for $50, ... and LOL I didn't even have to help the next guy work on it.

First car: 1957 Olds 88(what-a-tank!) paid $50 for it. It ran, needed tires & brakes. It had some mysterious problem with the engine that make it idle rough, I think a garage mechanic told me it was a worn camshaft. Sold it to a used car lot for $30 the night before I enlisted in the Army.

I had one of those when I was stationed in Southern Spain. It was a fun car. Later on I got the 1000cc version which was even more fun. One of the guys on base had a 1250cc Mini, but I could never talk him into parting with it.
I have driven one of the new mini's made by BMW, but it just did not have the "Magic."

My first car was some rattle trap of a Hudson circa: 1930 something that my dad picked up from a friend for 15 dollars in 1949. It was a built like a tank and had a tar roof that leaked. Shift on the floor and a gas gauge that did not work. My friends and I had a great time in that old heap and I ran it into the ground. Could not have a car as a freshman in college, so it was a good thing I got it out of my system during that summer.

We had the same car just after I got married the first time at 21 ! Here in the uk it was called the Austin Morris 1100.. it was a dreadful piece of junk... ours was red, that was it's only redeeming feature ...

Yellow and white Ford Anglia stick shift. I don’t know the year of the car but I bought it in1968 and it was quite used. I think I paid $470 for it. Id been saving for a year. I bought it 3 months before I actually got my license which I did on my birthday first thing. I couldn’t WAIT drive and be independent!!
