Cable bill went up again

I'd drop it too, but there are some channels I like I can only get on cable like The Science Channel, Comedy Central and Turner Classic Movies.
That's where cable providers screw their customers again, for paying customers should be able to choose, right down to every stinking last channel they want or don't want.

If you like those 3 channels, you should be able to pay for those 3 channels and those 3 channels only, not for their self-serving bundles they lump into cable option packages, where 99% of the channels they offer, people aren't interested in.

Dear husband and I will never, ever go back to paying for cable again. Not ever! It's a rip-off!

Often, if you threaten to cut your cable and go to another provider .. suddenly, they will miraculously offer you a terrific deal. It has happened with our cable company a few times.

The last time I asked Spectrum if there was a way to lower teh monthly bill, they said, "Sure. What do you want to give up?"

It's the "bundling" - you have to take certain channels in a "package", even if you never watch some. Considering I have their most "basic" plans, it is a huge rip-off. I don't even have HBO or Showtime. This does however, include basic speed Internet and phone.

Do you have an alternative choice of cable companies, Deb?

netflix would save you a bundle on the TV stuff... you could just cancel TV and save money. but it's up to you of course...

We have a combined Comcast, meaning, cable and Internet Service. It cost us around $130 a month. My wife absolutely loves tv and has favorite game show programs. We also watch AGT, DWTS, American Idol, HGTV, PGA, AXIS (rock music/concerts) and a station that has numerous old Western tv shows on it.

We simply can't go without cable!

So my question to you, Classic... at approx. $130 per month, and knowing how many other customers pay the same, do you think the cable service you receive is priced accordingly, or do you feel it's overpriced?

Just an honest question, not trying to be funny or anything.

My wife just said, "it's overpriced, but what can we do? We love tv and definitely need the internet."

We can't put up any kind of dish, as in Dish or Direct TV. Against apartment policy.

In the US, cable companies enjoy a lot of perks that most corporations don't have. There really isn't any competition. Each cable company has a defined territory. In PA, cable companies pay a fee to townships, and boroughs, for the exclusive rights to provide cable service in their jurisdiction. I don't know about other states, but I doubt out of state cable companies wouldn't latch on to this money making privilege. Aside of corporate greed, it does cost an arm and leg to provide hundreds of channels. Even if it cost 50 cents/month per channel, that a $100+/month. I wish you could select from a menu of networks, and pay for only what you want. I haven't turned on my stove in the last decade. I nuke everything. So, I really don't need a bunch of cooking networks.

Being in Canada, i think high prices is a norm.
We can choose pkg, bundles, etc., but to get a few good channels, still have to put up the crap that goes with them.
100.00 for cable TV....Have to take basic....then add whatever pkgs you want after.
100.00 for internet, 2nd from the top plan, didn't think i needed more than what i have for internet.
A person can hunt till the cows come home......but i just can't be bothered.

That my story, and i'm sticking to it. 🙃🤪😜😝🙃

I was going to drop Sirius-XM and that’s what they did. We have three vehicles and in home satellite radio and they cut our bill by 60% to keep us.
