Should states legalize marijuana ?

Shoot, our state did that quite awhile ago
It's been a boon for folks that medically need it

And, as of late, wants to decriminalize the heavy drugs, like heroin
Trying to think why that'd be a good thing....more room in the jails?

I think Medical Marijuana is a good thing....probably a more effective pain killer, etc., than many of the prescription or OTC drugs. Insofar as smoking that stuff, it's probably less dangerous to society than booze, as most who smoke that stuff seem to do so in their own homes, rather than getting drunk at a local bar, then weaving all over the road on the way home.

There is, however, mounting evidence that MJ has some long term negative side effects...as do most drugs.

Absolutely Positively YES
We do have medical marijuana, not the smokable kind (one can vape). I use the soft gels, the THC dominant, with a tiny bit of CBD (which is a joke). I can't smoke anything anymore anyway. The soft gels are pretty good. After taking them, if I burp, the taste is exactly the same!

I live in a state where recreational marijuana is legal and I could smoke daily if I wanted. That said, as a long-time tobacco smoker (now ex-tobacco smoker), I don't think the lungs welcome any kind of smoke. I'm not a doctor, but it seems pretty self-evident. Perhaps someone else has some other input?

I'll say that CBD ointment (cream?) from marijuana is a heck of a pain-killer. On the other hand, over-the-counter pills (acetaminophen, etc.) work fine for me when necessary. May it always be so. :)

I'm for legalizing most drugs, letting those currently incarcerated for only drug possession offenses out of jail and diverting most of the money spent on drug offense enforcement to addiction treatment facilities. I still think we need drug offense enforcement to deal with people who sell drugs to under age individuals.

It would also be good to have certified drug purchasing locations (like the marijuana dispensaries we have here in California) for other drugs as well so that people could purchase drugs with known levels of potency and known additives as opposed to chancing what they can get on the street. This would reduce the profitability of drug trafficking and hopefully reduce the crime associated with that.

Dispensaries would also allow those interested in drugs a chance to learn more about them and get honest information about the negatives associated with them. They could make more informed decisions about what they chose to achieve their goal.

I don't use it in any form, so I don't care. But...I find it kind of ironic that people are pushing to legalize it without any kind of studies about its long-term effects. Including people who go ballistic about GM foods.

A couple of former friends who smoked a lot wound up as amiable losers. Whether they would have wound up that way without MJ is hard to tell.

If I get to a point later in life when I'm in pain or otherwise in need, I hope it's available.

IMO the discretionary enforcement of marijuana laws has rendered them useless.

I think that marijuana should be decriminalized but not legalized and glamourized in boutique-type shops/dispensaries.

If marijuana has some medicinal value I don't see why it can't be dispensed through existing pharmacies or sold as any other over-the-counter medication.

Medical & recreational has been legal in Canada since the fall of 2018.

CBD cream for pain works. Two people that I know swear by it. I haven’t needed but would try it if I did.

There have been tons of studies, just no recent ones, none in the past 30 years almost. Studies show that using MJ while young, when specific brain receptors and neurons are underdeveloped, can inhibit learning and performance capabilities. Studies show no effects on unborn babies and no long term substantially negative effects on the health of adults aside from pulmonary nodules from excessive use (37% lowest measure in a study, 67% highest measure in another) but those numbers are debatable because it wasn't mentioned how many among those studied also smoked tobacco.

Well, I don't have to smoke it. I can take it as a gummy (mostly useless as it is hard to tell just how much you get and then you need to take so many), cookie (very good), brownie (smell is not as good). Legalizing here was a good thing for me as I can't really drink alcohol as it messes with my head (migraines). If I do smoke I only need one puff. I have never tried medical marijuana.

The smell of marijuana smoke is worse than cigarette smoke for me as a migraine trigger, and the smell tends to stick with a person long after they've smoked it. That's the only downside to me personally regarding legalizing it.

Let's collect tax revenue on Cannabis, rather than spend billions of dollars in arrest & incarceration.

Unfortunately, CBD only works for me in very high concentration, which is also very high in price. I dislike smoking it(ex smoker) and don't want to further compromise my lungs. I use the Indica gummys, 5mg of which provides a great night's sleep, without any side effects.

I think there's a 10% tax on pot here in San Jose in addition to the 15% state excise tax and the 9 1/4% state and sales tax so we've got that covered here in San Jose, Santa Clara county, CA.

Legalizing marijuana is a revenue producer for the states and eventually they will all legalize it. That's where Pennsylvania is at right now. They are inching towards it for the $$$. As for what it does for people, I won't touch it. I'm done boozing and I don't need MJ.

Some states already have, and I think Ontario has.I'm sure there will be more, so what do you think ?
It should have been legalized in all states years ago, IMO. It's legal medicinally and for recreational use here in Colorado, and if it was legalized federally it would be better for businesses and consumers.

I use a CBD balm recommended here by Gary O', it works very well for pain and I've been using it for a long time now. Been doing a lot of heavy work around the house and yard lately, and my husband just rubbed some again on my lower back. I'll always have some of that on hand. I only use the Calming Purple Terpene Blend topical, 1,000 mg strength. It is on sale at certain time of the year.

Arizona just legalized it. Forty years ago I would have been ecstatic but now I am just kind of eh. However I do hope that the tax collected will go to the proper places, unlike the money raised by the lottery. One other side benefit is that the legal system will be less burdened because of it now being legal.
