Your Favourite Comic Strip

My absolute favourite back in the day was, For Better or For Worse.

As the stay-at-home mom that I was, Lynn Johnston, was always able to draw me into her comics in a way none other were able to, probably because so much of her comic life mirrored exactly the same as mine... the overflowing laundry baskets, the playpen with baby inside, diapers to change, meals to cook, dishes to wash, talking with my mom on the phone every morning... she knocked it out of the park for me, right down to the plastic magnetized letters on the fridge door!

If you read the comics do you have a fave? I have several, but Pickles is the one I like best, and Moose and Molly run second.

And do you call them Comics or The Funnies?
i call them comic strips and my favorite is Dilbert.

I suddenly feel ancient...as you know we were a big family of the times. The Star Weekly, published only on Saturdays I believe originated just after the war was a favourite in our household and we had trouble getting it away from our Dad. As I noted before we were heavy into comics of all kinds and my eldest brother and I would fill our wagon with the ones everyone was finished with and pulled the wagon down the street from door to door to trade comics with others. Happy...happy days!

In the newspaper funnies today, I lean towards Between Friends. I am grabbed by Non Sequitur by Wiley--must be the art. I enjoy reading Shoe--his desk...I love the desk!

I canceled delivery of my home paper too, years ago, because it always arrived after I'd left for work and on my breaks was when I most enjoyed reading it. But then the cost of a single issue kept increasing as readership kept decreasing and the ads became overwhelming. These days I recently subscribed to my local newspaper on a special deal of only $1 for several months access. I'm living away from my home grounds and so this seemed like a bargain to keep up with the local news. But I also re-discovered those comic strips and realized that I'd missed them. Here's one I found today that made me laugh.
