How Do You Bathe?

iu

Shower, daily; sponge bath in the sink during the day to get rid if I start feeling grubby; especially if working hard enough to sweat.

I dont care for baths, since the tubs got too shallow to submerge.

Enjoy!

Shower all the way .. easier to wash my hair in there. Can't do that in the bath tub.

In my previous condo, there was a really deep bathtub, but it used an awful lot of water (you could actually float in it). The only time I soak in a bath, is if I have a bad cold. It makes me feel better.

I need 2 showers and 2 shampoos/day. Remember when we were teenagers & we had overactive oil glands? Mine stayed that way. Friends are always telling me how lucky I am because I'll never look old because the oil prevents wrinkles. I'd rather have wrinkles & a lower shampoo bill....
Dear husband and I both have overactive skin, especially our faces.

I used to bath/shower twice daily, but found it was exacerbating oil production in me, so I cut back to once daily (right before bed), and my skin is healthier and less oily now than it used to be.

We bought a walk-in tub about a year ago. I love it. It even has an extension so you can hold a shower head while your sitting down. It also has jets in it that help a great deal. So I soak for awhile then use the shower holder to rinse off and wash my hair. I do this at least once a day.View attachment 71691
wish i could have one of these. how are they on the leak factor?

My goodness, I can't believe how many people my age shower twice a day. My skin would be like sandpaper if I did that and my hair wouldn't be much better. Truth is, I don't get all that dirty anymore.

I live in a drought-prone state where water is very precious. Until I hit my 60s, I showered and washed my hair every morning, but during most of the year I shower every other day because my skin and hair were drying out. I Shampoo my hair every other shower (so every 4th day) and just rinse it and condition it on the off days.

It works for me. I no longer have to moisturize my skin because I'm not constantly washing away the natural oils. During swimming season I shower every day to wash the chlorine off my hair and skin.

I was thinking the same thing. I generally shower twice a week - Wed and Sat - and wash my hair once a week. If I think I'm stinky on, say, a Monday, I do a sponge-bath.

Was always a bath/bubble bath person......had a jacuzzi tub on the farm.
After my first knee replacement in 2014, said goodbye to my tub, very high, hard to get in and out of, why couldn't i have help......beats me.
After my next knee replacement, just continued with showers......and both hips are in need of replacing.
Since i've moved to town, have been trying to get up the nerve to do the tub thing, it's just a regular tub, not real high.
One of these days....i will master the tub......I LOVE BUBBLE BATHES.

Meanwhile, Micka, you should use a chair in your shower. Either a cheap folding chair (as low as $10) or one of those shower chairs (around $30 for a really good one).

I haven't had a bath in at least 60 years. The last bath I took was not a thrill. We lived in the Yukon at the time. We lived in a company town as DH worked in a brand new mine with brand new housing. I had gotten the kids off to school and figured I would take a nice long soak in the tub. So I did as I sat there in the tub, I could hear water running, I figured the walls were thin and the neighbor was doing wash or something. The sound kept going so finally I jumped out of that nice warm bath threw on a robe and went down the 3 flights to the ground floor only to see water shooting out of the wall near the front door. As luck would have it DH just the night before showed me where to turn the water off if I ever needed to. It was winter and I didn't want to go outside and around the end and in the back door which was locked and I didn't have the key on me, so I had to run through that water shooting out of the wall! It was ice cold, well that did not make me happy let me tell you! So I stomped back up those 3 floors, got dressed and got my winter coat on with the hood over my head. Not far off was the Town managers office, so I march in flaming mad with frozen hair and let him know just how thrilled I was with the hole in the wall and everything that was stored under the stairs soaking wet! Well they got right on fixing the pipes and the wall. While I spent hours ironing DH's books. Yes you can dry books that way but they are never the same! After all that we found out that the company had hired architects from California no wonder the water pipes ran up an outside wall!

Showers always.

Shower & wash hair every morning. I’ve tried just rinsing my hair in the morning, it doesn’t work. It was a dermatologist who told me I need to wash it every day. In the summer when my practically my whole body is covered in sunscreen, I’ll shower at bedtime.

Baths are for sick days. I don’t feel clean.

DH squeegees & wipes the shower down totally every morning. If I shower at night, I do an adequate job (IMO) cleaning it.

Now . . . in my dream house there would be a huge shower room with a wall that opened onto a garden and a nice big bath the size of a small pool. Yeah! :giggle:

We have a double Jacuzzi tub in our master bath. Other than running the water to clear the dust out, it hasn't been used in at least 15 years. (My husband swore we'd use it a lot. I was skeptical.)

The other is a standard tub in the area of the children's bedrooms. It saw a bit of action to bathe our grands when they were younger, but they've also moved on to showers.

Both bathrooms also have separate walk-in showers. I detest showering in a bathtub.

Hot shower, which is a long way from the old, round tin tub of the earliest days. Back then, it was a Saturday night bath in the tub by the coal stove. When the war was over, we moved up to a claw foot tub in an unheated bathroom addition to the side of the house. The college animal house I lived in had a shower, as did our first appartment. Four houses later, it's still a shower for me I probably haven't been in a tub since 1960.

Similar to why I don't care for baths - when my aunt & uncle and 4 cousins spent the holidays with us (at my grandparents' farm) there were then 8 kids in total but only 2 baths given...all the girls bathed together and then all the boys bathed together. The girls bathed first because (I suppose) it was assumed the boys got dirtier. See, the water wasn't changed between these two communal kid-only baths!

As an adult, I've only taken soaks in a bathtub after doing a cross-country run, and haven't done that since my late 20s.

We're pretty much in constant danger of drought around here so good hot showers every other day must suffice.

When I broke my leg at age 56 with a compound fracture, it was over 2 mos. of sponge baths before I could step into a tub for a shower. I swear to you, it was the longest shower I'd taken in decades! It felt SO GOOD to get really clean again!

Our downstairs master bedroom suite has a custom shower-only. It was a full four months before I could get down the stairs and finally stop sleeping on the LR sofa. Bliss!!

That's what made me realize our home was not a "forever" home - and architecturally there was no way to make it so. Managing with a walker was hard enough......would be impossible with a wheelchair.
