What is something you really resent paying for?

I hate paying tolls on roads and highways. It's frickin' ridiculous to have to keep change in your car, or I guess in some cases, you just get billed, but there's a huge cost for administering a toll system. That money could be put to much better use if we'd just pay for the roads out of our taxes where everyone pays their share and contributes to the common good, which seems to be a fading concept as the U.S. greatness degrades into oblivion.

I first came across toll roads when I visited Malaysia about 25 years ago.
Driving north to south I think there were 4 toll booths I passed through. It was rather expensive.
Never have I been on a toll road since.

Garbage pick up.

It just takes a big chunk out of my check. And, I don't have that much garbage.

I went to City Hall to request that they pick up my garbage twice a month, due to being disabled and not having that much garbage and charge me half the cost...ya, that didn't go over very well. :(

Food storage containers and trash bags.

I save and reuse the various food containers and plastic bags that come into my life.

I particularly like saving the heavy Tyvek mailing bags for my trash.

Omg! That's terrible. So sorry that happened to you.
I'd be so pissed.

I'd probably be calling everybody and giving them a piece of my mad mind..lol
Well, I do have a follow-up next month with the nurse practicioner who prescribed it and I'll for sure let her know it didn't work. Not her fault; it's a fairly new drug and I guess so far it's worked for about 95 percent who've used it; leave it to me to be in that darn 5 percent...story of my life, sigh.

Some doctors are bad enough, but allowing anyone who doesn't have M.D. after their name to prescribe is a bad idea.

Our expenses, for most things, seem reasonable. Perhaps the one thing I would like to see change is the TV subscription. We pay for about 225 channels...200 of which we seldom, if ever, view. I would like to see a TV service that allowed the user to chose only the channels they like to view, and are charged accordingly.

I

I wish! Drove my daughter to the airport and we had lunch before her flight. Parking was $17.50 Canadian for about 3 hours of parking. What a rip-off!
Our local airport...short term parking charges...

  • Up to 30 minutes - £10
  • Up to 1 hour - £18
  • Up to 2 hours - £22
  • Up to 4 hours - £35
  • Up to 24 hours - £62
  • Each additional 24 hours (no hourly rate) - £62

or you can drop a passnger off at thedrop off zone , you can't stay longer than 10 minutes and the cost is £7.. even if you are only in the area for a second...if you stay longer than 10 mins it's a £40 fine

Yes the things I resent are TV related. Like premium stations HBO, Showtime, Netflix, PBS Passport, etc. Isn't it enough that we bought the TV and pay for cable? The sound on our latest TVs has been terrible, the color so messed up it always looks like night time and the actors look ugly. People suggest we get a sound bar -- As if! It's like buying a car and then when it doesn't move they tell you you should buy tires to go with it. We went to Best Buy and got some $200 headphones so at least one of us can hear but the picture is still depressing.

We have that... we can choose the TV package we wish in the UK. For example I choose not to have sports channels or disney or children's channels..or movie channels ( I can watch movies on Netflix if I want ) .. so I pay much less than someone who has a full package deal.....however we also have to pay an annual tv licence just for the privilege of watching tv..( or more specifically the ability to receive the broadcasts from the BBC which carries no advertising , which also includes radio )..we pay around £160... if we're caught without one we face up to £1000 fine, and or prison time.. I kid you not, many people have been imprisoned for being too poor to buy a TV licence... ..so I would love to see the end of that..

I've always felt this way too, just let me pay for the channels I like to watch.

Well, I finally got rid of Directv, and now purchase Philo monthly for only $20.
They have all the channels I like, and prefer to watch. Everything from Hallmark to Investigation ID.
And many more....I think there's 60-65 channels. And music.

yep..yep...yep.. and the astronomical prices they charge for parking here....however I have not been able like you to not pay for 4 years lol.. just this afternoon I had to pay....we even have to pay in the supermarket car park
One large shopping centre here underwent massive renovations, then introduced paid parking.
With the first 2 hours free, 2.5 hours, $3 - 3 hours - $5 - 3.5 hours - $7 - 4 hours - $9 and an ever increasing amount up to a maximum of $35

yes a few of our supermarkets are free to park, but with a limited time..usually 90 minutes and no return in 4 hours or face a fine ..but most here are paid parking with the first 15 minutes free and pay in increments of 2 hours after that with an ever escalating charge
