Hello from Virginia

Betty Boop

My name is Elizabeth, but as long as I can remember everyone has called me Betty. Since Junior High my nickname was Betty Boop.

So I have been on this earth almost 80 years so you will probably think this introduction will be pretty long. Well it won't be because most of the stuff I have forgotten by now. :D

I was born in Washington State and came to Virginia when I attended college. Back then for a lady to attend college and especially across the country was seen as scandalous, but I survived. While at college I met my future husband and I ended up staying here for what seems to be the rest of my life. My husband in 1965 got married and in 1967 welcomed a baby boy. My baby boy is now all grown up and now he lives in Washington State, but he had a daughter who ended up in Virginia and lives pretty close to me. She also has my precious 2 year old great granddaughter who I love spending time with and taking to the park. It is also a very good thing that she is a Geriatrics Nurse.

As for me I am a Retired Elementary School teacher who mostly taught the 1st grade my entire career. I retired in 2007 and my husband and I traveled and enjoyed our time together. My husband passed away in 2018 and I have been living alone since then.

I enjoy gardening, shopping, cooking and baking, watching old movies and old tv shows and spending time with my granddaughter and great granddaughter.

Welcome to SF, Betty, from Southern California. Hope you enjoy your time here as much as we do. A lot of super fine people here to share bits and pieces of our lives with :coffee: . Don...
Thank You for the warm welcome Don. I look forward to reminiscing here with everyone.

Hi Betty...you have the same name as my mum, her given name was Elizabeth but she was always known as Betty. She would have been 86 last week if she'd still been with us.

Welcome from London.....we have quite a few members around your age, so don't go feeling old... :D

Thanks for the warm welcome. I also love my name. it is also a family name for me as well. I try not to feel old and I think I do pretty well most of the time. The aches and pains get to me quite a bit, but I still get get down on the floor and play with my two year old great granddaughter.

Welcome aboard Betty Boop !!!!
