What is the one thing you own, you wish you didn't?

Land (we don't need this whole acre we're on) and that darn king-size, sleep# bed, not worth the money it cost at all.
I can relate. My half-acre now seems like too much to maintain and my twin bed is too big to easily change the sheets. A decade or so ago, I maintained 10 acres and a California King bed. It's amazing how things change when we do.

@Pappy Have you ever tried making cake in your breadmaker? There are lots of videos on YouTube to choose from. You can also use your breadmaker to make the dough for rolls, pizza bases etc.

No, we’ve never tried that. Might be worth a second look, but I really don’t care if I ever see it again. Oh, and by the way, it wasn’t my wife that wanted it. I thought it would be a great money saver…

Can you offer them on a Buy & Sell site for free with the stipulation that they must remove them from your house. Warn about the broken motor.

PS, is there any chance the motor is still under warranty?
no the bed is 10 years old at least altho' the mattress is newer than that ... there's no way that bed could be lifted out of the room in one piece... it's far too heavy and would be too awkward even if we had Samson and his family.. to maneauvre in one piece down stairs, in fact it would be too big to get out of the bedroom door ... , at the very least the basic hydraulics and the iron frame work would have to be removed first... then the very high leather headboard.. etc , and even then it would still be the size of a normal bed without storage IYSWIM

I've been kind of stupid when buying stuff. Like a waterbed and having three cats. But the thing I regret was buying a large lot- 1 .3 acres. I wanted my own "empire". I'm proud that I cleared it by myself. But I also bought it when I was 40 and fit. Now, I'm 76, and disabled, it's difficult to keep that much property up. Plus, it was in the sticks, where I didn't mind driving a half hour -hour to go to the store. But, now, it limits the services I can get that most 'towners' have. At least, I ensured my home was all on one floor. As a nurse, I saw too many elderly living in their kitchen, because their bedroom was upstairs.
We did the same thing. Now I'm a widow and handicapped so can't keep up with it and have to pay to have anything done!

@hollydolly...since your daughter seems to be so handy...with all the re-hab you've posted she's done...could she help you and tear it done?...just an idea.
Good Luck!

no ...several reasons. My dd is very handy yes, but her refurb is being done by craftsmen.. albeit she's doing the smaller jobs around the house... . Secondly she's got to be there every weekend for the foreseeable future overseeing the work.. new bathroom, new kitchen, new underfloor heating.. all which can only be done at weekends when she's not at work... thirdly, many long time members of this forum will remember me talking about this some years ago.... my daughter although still having both hands and able to type etc.. can't grip anything with her right hand after she was pulled over a 30 feet cliff, by a pitbull while the dog lead was wrapped around her hand ..and 2 of her fingers were almost completely severed, . The Spanish doctors worked miracles and her fingers were sewn back on, and unless you look closely at her palms you can see no scars.. but her 2 fingers ( co-incidentally the same fingers I have OA in, are no use for anything but the lightest grip), she suffers from arthritis now in that hand... So in essence she can't use her right hand for anything other than light tasks

Hope I'm not grossing anyone out.. this was her fingers..

The family house where I raised my children was furnished with it - large living room, dining room, game room, office/library. The sofa in center photo was in the game room along with the pool table. Had been in place since around 1900. All lost in fire in the late 70s. I loved that furniture. Thanks for the trip down.

Sorry, didn't mean to hi-jack thread.

I don't regret this really because I knew it when I bought it. I wanted to copy a set of audiotapes to a blank set. A new set with the recordings would have cost me over $500. Instead I bought a recording/copying device for less than $100 that I copied the set of tapes on. It was just a backup copy that I used for myself. I thought I might use it for more than that. Now the technology is outdated. I don't want to get rid of it because what if I want to copy something else? But it's a waste of space.

I tend to use it more for making dough for rolls, bases for pizza, flatbread, biscuits and cakes rather than loaves.

It was my dad who wanted the microwave and the dishwasher, not mum and she has rarely used either of them. :)

My bed! When I moved in here I had a single bed but then I decided I needed a double bed. So I bought a new one and spent more money on it then I should have. For some reason now, I have trouble sleeping on it. Plus it takes up more room and every inch of space in a studio apartment is valuable.

I have my husband's grandmother's bedroom furniture. I hate it with the heat of a thousand suns! My husband is picky about furniture but I finally found something we both liked and went to buy it on Tuesday. Hmmm....no longer on display? Sitting there taken apart? Yeah, you guessed it. Someone had bought it the day before and were on their way to pick it up. Back to the drawing board!

2 heavy heavy boxes of “fine China” I inherited. Spode, Doulton etc. Can’t sell it and even good will and savers are leery of taking it. My fantasy is to take it way out deep into some rocky canyon and throw and smash every last piece to bits on the rocks.
