I don't

I sit in the truck, like a good dawg.

She goes pretty nuts with it
Buys name brand stuff by the pound
I think it's $1.49/lb or something like that

I say 'name brand', I mean really BIG name brand

Anyway, my homemade (altered) house shoes are giving way

I'm given to cut away old tennies to make into slippers or house shoes

Hate to part with 'em, but duct tape isn't even getting it done

So, I ventured in
to dig thru the bins

Found these
Zero wear
Somebody just didn't like 'em
Weighed in at $2
These KEEN shoes go for around $160usd in the normal stores where normal people shop

This adventure hasn't turned me into a dyed in the wool bin diver

but

If these things fit, I'll be hard pressed to cut 'em away into house slippers

Years ago, when my kids were little.....I learned a lesson..
I'd put brand New jeans on the boy....oh! They looked so nice...
and, as soon as he could...rip them,
of course, boys will be boys...
So..to the thrift shop..for not too worn.. ALMOST new...
and he never knew the difference.

And, of course, they never ripped.šŸ˜‚
True!

I did when I was in my late 20's and had to count every penny. I became manager of an expensive boutique men's store and I bought a great shirt at a thrift store. I wore it to the store one day, the owner complimented me on it and I told him I got it at a thrift store. He said "don't tell anyone". Not so much today, but then I don't buy many clothes these days.

Boy! You really "lucked out".

I love going to thrift stores. There is a Goodwill about 1/2 hour away that has tons of clothes in my size. I scan the racks looking for specific colors (the ones of my favorite brands. The 3 thrift stores here in town never have had any great clothes. But sometimes they have interesting cookbooks and furniture. When my sons would go with me, I'd find a mid-century modern piece that just needed to be refinished. That was the cue for the three of them to take hold of me and steer me out of the store. It's okay, they weren't teak or made in Scandinavia, so it was no great loss.

The key to finding great clothes, IMO, is to know the exact hues the brands you are looking for used in last year or two. Unless you like vintage clothing (which I do, but never buy). I don't have the figure for vintage dresses, but if I did, I'd be thrilled.

I used to find Whirley Industries white plastic travel mugs sometimes. I bought every one I found, if it was in good condition, because those were my coffee mugs - I would not drink coffee out of anything else (at home or work). Then I found out the plastics from back then weren't great to drink out of, so I stopped.

I used to buy my boys clothes from the Salvation Army store when we lived in Mass. Mostly summer clothes. All looked very new. The t-shirts were a bargain. $1 each. No way a mom could feel badly for throwing out a messed up t-shirt at that price.

Not often, but your lady sounds like my wife's twin sister.

My wife goes to thrift stores all the time, and when we are on vacation she seeks them out. Now she volunteers at the thrift store at her church. I shouldn't complain she does bring home a lot of useful stuff, too much in fact.

Sweet find, Gary. Your toes will be happy.

If I had a few trips, not for furniture, just picking up household items I swear I could outfit two or three apartments tastefully. I say two or three places because I wouldn’t want them to be too mix and match. There’s some good quality stuff donated and that includes by me.

I get all my summer t-shirts there, I figure if they get grease or paint on them, then I didn't pay too much for them, and I stay out of the doghouse, for wrecking another good shirt... or t-shirt... Also, look for stuff that I could always use one day...

Now for pedicures, no as such.. But since breaking my leg in 5 spots a few years back, and having diabetes... My daughter does my feet... Before her, and breaking my leg, and now no feeling in my left foot used to be tin snips to cut my nails... Now my feet look like feet from a catalogue...😁🤣
