Actress Anne Heche in firey car crash. Was on life support

What a shame, she was a very pretty young woman. I hope her face was spared, because she needs to be good looking to continue her career.

so was the second crash she was in she left the scene of first one..... what was she running from ?
although not in this link another site said a pill bottle was in passenger seat.....

Since I was just vaguely familiar with Anne Heche, I read the "early life" section of the Wikipedia entry on her. I like learning about the background of successful people. After they become successful, they often become boring, but what they go through to achieve success can be fascinating.

Anne overcame a LOT of adversity growing up. She was raped by her father and her mother was a religious fanatic. The family was poor and at one point they were homeless. But she apparently was a natural actress and was offered roles while still in her teens after being discovered in a school play.

Her mother tried to block her career and succeeded in doing so until she was an adult, at which time Anne left home for an acting role in a TV soap opera.

So it could be that she has residual problems from her childhood and is on some kind of medication. That information will probably come out in the next few days.

Today she's been officially declared brain dead and her life support will be turned off.

I don't know the lady, but this is a tragedy for her and her family

..
The actress, 53, who is in a coma and in critical condition, will stay on a ventilator to determine whether any of her remaining organs are viable to be donated, per Heche's wishes.

Heche, who's been hospitalized at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital north of Los Angeles, suffered a 'severe anoxic brain injury' in the August 5 crash, according to a statement released Thursday night on behalf of her family and friends. Such an injury is caused by a sustained lack of oxygen to the brain.

A representative for her loved ones said: 'We want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers for Anne's recovery and thank the dedicated staff and wonderful nurses that cared for Anne at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills hospital.'

'Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne Heche suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition. She is not expected to survive.'

They added that it has 'long been her choice' to be an organ donor, so Heche will be kept on life support until medics are able to confirm whether she has any viable organs to donate.

This is a picture of her car.. not hard to see how someone wouldn't survive this..

I don't know if she did this intentionally in some kind of suicide attempt or her mind was off the rails for whatever reason.

I feel really bad also for the person whose house was destroyed because of this.

I saw a portion of a Podcast the day of the accident (recorded a few days previously but since removed) where Heche was heavily drinking..."Vodka and chasing it down with wine" she said. She was talking about having bad days and somewhat slurring her speech. I couldn't understand her very well and clicked out of the Podcast.

A Go Fund Me page was set up for the person whose house and belongings were destroyed.

Anne Heche's liability insurance limit might not be enough.

I think they got a blood sample from the hospital that contained cocaine and fentanyl, but no alcohol. The fentanyl might have been administered by medics due to the enormous pain that burns cause.
But surprisingly no alcohol or intoxicating amounts. Just the cocaine. Some say her first 'accident' where she hit a building and drove away may have a suicide attempt. Will never know. Hate to say it but at least no one else was hurt.

One half a century old and still dealing with issues most move on from in early adulthood.

I wondered what would possess her to do what she did...drive while incapacitated again! I wonder if she was just so zonked or if she actually lost consciousness. I read a little bit about her mother in an article yesterday. She was a piece of work in her day and reading comments about her here, it's no wonder Anne had mental problems. Those demons often don't go away. I agree that death was the most merciful outcome for her. It spared her years of anguish, not only as a burn victim but having to look at herself that way. That would have been tough as an actress who probably could never work again.

I also feel very sorry for the lady who's house she destroyed. Suddenly she's homeless. When she woke up that morning, she never could have imagined it, I'm sure. I was also wondering if she could sue Anne Heche's estate. In this case, perhaps a Go Fund Me is a good idea.
