Many years ago I saw this in an antique shop and I could not take my eyes off it.
I did not particularly like it but I had to have it

I wandered around the store and was always drawn back to this thing hanging on a back the wall.
The shop owner did not know anything about it and was not sure where it came from and indeed did not know the price but sold it me for $20.

It is brass and all the little bells tinkle. Right now it is hanging in my kitchen and sometimes I hear them but I figure it is just some movement in the building:unsure:
Over the years in moving etc., I seem to have lost one little bell off the bottom

Yes I did a goole search and saw similar things on eBay and they were called wind chimes. The offering price was around $30 so I am ten dollars in pocket.
I bought way before computers hit the home world so had no way of checking it out then and as I said it just drew my attention.
Didn't need it and sometimes I wonder why I still have it but...can't seem to let go of the danged thing.:LOL:

Just yesterday my wife discovered a pair of men's house slippers I had stored. Only worn once & darn near wrecked our auto trying to use the brakes. Never worn again. Threw them in the donate box. Will never look back.

My big thing was acquiring tech cords & parts. After redoing our closet gave my hoarder daughter a sack full of unused cords, drives and misc adapters.

I went to a yard sale yesterday, (hadn't been to a yard sale in YEARS!)
Four women were unloading a huge telescope from a vehicle.
I asked if it was in good condition.
One woman was yelling, "at least a hundred dollars!"
One other lady came over and said, "Yes, it's in excellent condition. How about $25 dollars?"

I bought it. it's at least 9 inches diameter.
Comes with a tripod.
The last thing in the world I need is a telescope!
a HUGE telescope!
I have no one to share this with.
I would rather watch the James Webb telescope images.
I NEVER buy stuff I don't need!
What is the matter with me?
(don't answer that!)

Anyway, I feel really stupid for buying that!

It'd be easy to resell it. But, even though you get way less detail, seeing the stars and planets with your own eyes is pretty awesome. I bought a telescope for my grandson (no regrets). He doesn't use it often, but, as well as stars and planets, he's watched meteor showers and passing satellites. He checks online for when those events will happen, and gets his telescope all set up for it.

You love the night and the stars, all things astral. You are in the perfect place. I have never seen such a night sky as in New Mexico visits I have made. I bought a small telescope for my grandson for Christmas a couple of years ago. Now is the perfect time, the weather is cooling, you can go out with a blanket, a glass of wine or a hot cup of tea and enjoy the quiet beauty that surrounds you!

Oh, that sounds like my hubs. We have a closet full of assorted wires, connectors and such. And various computer parts lying around as well. I am trying to get him to re-sell some of them; especially the laptops that he has been refurbishing.
 
Yeah, I bought a painting last year. Paid a pretty penny for it, too. It's huge , about 6 x 4 and weighs a ton.

I HAD to have that painting. I only have one wall it'll look good on and the Spousal Equivalent disagrees.

I'd hang it over the bed, but if it fell on us, we'd be dead.

So it sits in the guest room on the floor, turned to the wall.

I'm both sorry and not sorry I bought it.

Gaer, at least you didn't pay full price for your telescope, I don't know why but I bought one. Looking at the moon was cool, and it was weird seeing the earth was spinning, because you had to keep adjusting it to compensate. I never could find Mercury, and the planets. I gave it to some kids to get rid of it. Gaer, you will spend hours searching the heavens for some kids to ditch the thing with.

At "Sallies", I bought a 4 foot X 6 foot framed relief map of Panama. Talk about something we could all use. It's been in the shed for the last 50 years.

One other thing I bought....didn't need

We used to have a store called White Rose and it closed all its branches down about 20 years ago and everything went on sale.
SO I am wandering around picking up this and that , necessary stuff, and lo and behold , there he was. The sweetest little puppy you ever saw just looking at me with those eyes from a shelf...buy me he said .. so I did
He is made of pure cheap plastic and big beads for eyes and he cost me $2
How could I resist. I was and still am in love.

I have three other 'dogs' around the house . Daisy, Rusty and Buckley and they of course are made of better quality stuff but have never named this little $2 guy . I did call him Pooch for a while but didn't stick.
I only talk to them when I am cleaning so don't worry I am alright in the head.
Some suggestions perhaps.....

When I would acquire an unbootable laptop I usually installed a Linux system & gave them away. Or did until I got into a teaching/trouble shooting position of sorts, the women who salvaged/claimed one wanted me to be her unpaid tech support, one with all the answers & willing to take her abusive complaints because she couldn't understand Linux. She kept telling how it was done with Windows. She finally moved away much to my disappointment, how I miss her!

When I used to go to garage sales I found myself opening the trunk, surveying my treasures and heading over to a thrift store to donate them. I know I could have done some crafty things for the garden or house and also knew it would never happen.
 
Never been one to collect anything, I discovered something I knew a little about - Zippo Lighters - back when I smoked I had bought one in the service & promptly lost it on the obstacle course. So I decided I needed something to collect, everybody seemed to collect something. I was an EBAY expert at the time so I started buying vintage lighters. That obsession lasted about 6 months & cost $350.

I boxed them up in a shoe box, many years later my oldest daughter & wife were having a yard sale. According to them they had asked me if they could sell the lighters, being somewhat deaf, I had said, 'Sure go ahead'. They sold them all for less than $20!

I need to pay closer attention to the conversations.
