Anybody ever cook them in microwave?
I bought a bunch and they are very large and I just know I will not be able to eat them as is.
Since chemo I am not too great with swallowing certain foods ( and ageism they say) and it seems the radish has become one of them.
I don't want to get involved with pots and pans with my hand problems so wondered if anyone had ever cooked them in microwave
and how do they taste etc. ..
thanks

Here's an idea: toss a few in the microwave and turn it on. If they quickly shrivel or explode, the answer is 'no.' :)

Well I am not one of the nation who likes pumpkin so doubt I would like them baked and there are recipes for microwave.
As I said... was just looking for feedback on experience and taste.
There is a recipe which includes butter salt honey...so might give that a shot.

Is it just me or do they have a hot spicy kick to them but really no flavor? I hated them as a kid and have never tried them again. I like spicy foods, peppers, horseradish but find they have a flavor that add a lot to a dish.

I love good fresh radishes ! Couldn’t eat them recently for awhile due to a gut problem, but hope to ease back into some soon.
Oh HollyDolly, I love pumpkin stuff! Don’t they grow them & fix them nicely in the UK?
of course, just cooked plain, just another veg, but a store here sells pumpkin chocolate chip spice cookies I love! And just bought my first pumpkin pie of the fall. Was going to make one but really don’t have room for extensive baking in my apt.

I don't see how one could go wrong with a recipe like that one.😁
Put butter, salt and honey on anything, to make it more palatable!🙃😃

But, Mizmo, don't you live in the nation who likes anything with Maple Syrup? 😆 If so, you might try that instead of honey. :giggle:😁😍🥰☺️

More seriously though, let us know how it tastes to you!
Now that you've mentioned it, I might actually like to try it myself, anyway.

Btw, @hollydolly I love pumpkin, 😄😁☺️

But I am only a person, not a nation.😆😊

I am a person who does live where they grow them in fields full,
so therefore am thankful that I do love to eat them!🥰

A friend of mine who lived there,
told me that their stores only sell those large jack-o-lantern type, which are not nearly as good for baking or cooking.
Is that correct, @hollydolly ?

Small types called Pie Pumpkins, are quite different inside, (even visually) and are much better for eating. They have dense flesh, and far less water.

lol..in a word NO... we don't actually go in for pumpkins in the way Americans do, and we don't usually have it as in ingredeant in many things if at all ... its available somewhere in cans probably in the international Aisle... but as Kaila pointed out fresh pumpkins generally are only used to make Jack O Lanterns at Halloween.. :D

Thin sliced radish and butter sandwiches sound interesting The best maple syrup is from the New England states & Canada!
Yes, I think the varieties of pumpkins used here for pies and even as a cooked veg etc are way different from the Jack o Lantern ones.Smaller, denser and sweeter. Back when we used to carve Jack o Lanterns, we wouldn’t cook & eat it when we were done with it.
