What does blessed mean? What’s the difference between blessed and having a good life? Is God necessary for a blessed life? Can people who do not believe in god be blessed with a good life or would the good life be caused by something different?

With all your protestations re: god; how come you're still obsessed?
I’m sorry if I offended you but my questions and observations come real life experience, I just post what’s on my mind. The reason I am so obseesed. What is obsession A persistent disturbing preoccupation with an often unreasonable idea or feeling. a compelling motivation. My obession/motivation is discrediting the impression Chrstianity, religion, church, that I leanred were misrepresentation of facts.

I don't think God is required or even necessarily involved with a "blessed" life. To me, blessings are favors we didn't earn. They can arise from the intentional help of others or be the result of dumb luck.

Blessings would include being born into favorable conditions, having good health, avoiding severe consequences when others in similar circumstances have not been so fortunate, someone rescuing you from a potential disastrous decision or situation, having schoolteachers or business mentors who took a special interest in guiding you, finding partners and friends that you love, etc.

Virtually everyone who reaches old age has been blessed in some ways.

Dumb luck would be like just now after picking up some groceries at Von's supermarket. At the self checkout decided to get $20.00 out to try the video poker machines in the store. Was playing double double video poker for $2.50 a hand. Machine paid full house twice for $22.50 the went down to $17.50 left when it hit a royal for $2000.00. Got the cash & still had $17.50 to play. Changed to triple double poker @ $1.25 a hand hit 4 in 3's $ an ace kicker for 800 quarters.

Tomorrow will be a day out for champagne brunch & fun day for my wife to spend some of that win.

Somewhere inside, somehow you know that there’s a purpose for you on this day. Let that purpose come to the surface and bring it fully to life.
If so, you are blessed

It surfaced:)

No need to apologize for questioning Christianity. The Bible even says "Study "My Word" (the Bible) to show thyself approved". That's why He didn't spell everything out for us. He wants us to read it and cross-reference until we see it clearly ourselves...which will never happen 100% by design because only God is omniscient...all-knowing. That's when Faith kicks in.

You were BLESSED with the ability to make your own choices when you were created. So you're on the right track. I encourage you to continue. You ask great questions. Just be careful not to leave out Faith. And not be so focused on facts that aren't really facts. Once you begin to lean on Him for your understanding the blessings will be clearer to you and you will be consequentially blessed even more. That's how I see it anyway...my choice. Not telling you to.

I don't know. The Bible seems to indicate if you have a good life here you're looking at an eternity of misery. I'm talking about the actual
Bible, not some preacher's interpretation of it. The New Testament tells us to shun the world and its many trappings because it all comes with a cost to our immortal soul. I guess people just skim over that and go with the Prosperity Gospel.

Whoever or whatever allows goodness into our lives know how to make us feel blessed.
How many times do you just acknowledge to yourself, "I am blessed to have this" "I am blessed to be able to do this" "I am so blessed to have a comfortable life".....
I believe in God, but I often feel my guardian angel has a lot to say in this matter.....

I once told someone I was "very lucky" (I forget the context). He said, "Don't say you're lucky, say you're blessed." So I don't care for that word.

I have good health, a decent place to live, I even have a car. But those things are just a starting point. I feel I never got past the starting point. I was a low-income single mother, which was hell. I was unlucky in love. So I don't feel very blessed.

A few years ago, my landlords' 22-year-old son was dying of cancer. He had friends and a loving family, and everything to live for. I wished I could give him my good health, because my having it seemed pointless.

Maybe gratitude is the only true blessing. I'm still working on it.

On a Christian stance?

Not necessarily just by temporal things

'He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.' Matthew 5

'But godliness with contentment is great gain.' 1 Timothy 6

On a regular ol' buzzard/geezer 'I'm goin' for it' stance?

I'd be hangin' with @Knight

hit a royal for $2000.00

Tomorrow will be a day out for champagne brunch & fun day

But, for me, now? It's all a bottomless void......the blessing is in contentment

Ok I have to say I do not believe the Bible and historically Jesus is said to have lived back whenever. But for me that does not prove Jesus god relationship nor is it proof Christianity is and does exactly what it is alleged to do. I was fooled and I don’t like the effect chrisitianity had on me. Haveing a close relationship with church, Chrisitianty I am aware of discrepencies that go unnoticed by the general public.

Somethings are very petty, but still noticeable to me.

I don't find your preoccupation/obsession with finding the truth at all 'disturbing" as you say. Many agnostics and even scientists like Isaac Newton (google 34 great scientists who were committed Christians), in trying to discredit the Bible, have become the most steadfast Christians of all. "Christians make up approximately 75% of the American public...about 30% of academic scientists identify as Christian".

But the topic is how we know we're blessed so I'll just share my thought on it...
You'll know it when it happens, weren't expecting it, feels good, and you're overjoyed with gratitude.
