Keep getting phone calls from the same number

I am used to getting a few calls a week from numbers I don't know. Today I must have received 6 or 7 calls from the same number (801-438-8150) and the caller ID was Commenity Bank and didn't leave any message. I don't know who that is or do any business with it. I looked it up and it's being reported as a scam call. I finally had to block it because of the frequency.

"finally had to block it because of the frequency."

The rest of the world checks on unknown numbers and/or blocks after the 1st. call. But being the trusting woman you are, I can understand your reluctance to not block right away.

Apparently a Bank debt collector...

Previously a "local number" was a telemarketer from India. I asked my Indian friend how to say "mother fu--ker" in Hindi. (she knew the reason without asking!!). After a few "press ?? to speak to a live person" and yelling "mother fu--ker" in their language, the calls about my non existent charge card stopped.

A debt collector is relentless. This happened once with a new number (long before cell phones) Clearly the people with the number previously had issues. I think they leave them out of commission for 6 months. Anyway, the phone company changed the number again. They would do that without a charge if you were receiving harassing phone calls.

Keep blocking.

if i'm in the right spot at the right time, my TV shows who is calling when phone rings. unless it's my brother or sister, i just don't answer EVER. if i don't recognize the number (and WHO knows numbers these days?), i just let it ring. if caller wants to talk to me for real, they'll leave a msg... and they rarely if ever do.

have had this kind of discussion on other message boards with people kinda whining about unwanted calls. sometimes i want to reach thru the phone lines and figuratively slap some sense into them. just DON'T pick up... PERIOD!

I wouldn't have the patience to keep getting wrong or anonymous calls over and over again.
By the second time, they would get blocked.

I really wish when you block a number you have the option to also prevent them from leaving a voice mail. I know you can get an app to do something like this but I don't really want a 3rd party app to have my address book permissions. It should be an option built into the phone OS.

Unfortunately, my phone service only allows up to 10 blocked numbers - a pittance with all the spam calls these days, but they do have a feature that blocks ALL incoming calls unless a specific number is designated not to be blocked. I'm afraid I'd forget to allow some important number.

Think of it this way: None of the incoming calls are important<breathe, repeat> If by chance an important call does arrive, they will leave a message. Just think of the daily load of meaningless calls as inconsequential, like the breeze rattling the gate down by the road.

Yes, but they are SO annoying. Yesterday it was like every hour or so. This morning it started at 8am.

I used to leave my home phone unplugged for months at a time.
Anyone who knows me can call online or else leave a message on my google number.
Now I just leave my home phone plugged in, answer every call and keep saying "Hi!, hello" and/or "Hey!"
This morning a guy called and asked, "Hello, is John there?" I said "Hi!" He hung up.

About a month ago I did that and some guy was quite perturbed and hung up.
A few minutes later the phone rang again, this time with a woman sounding voice saying the same thing.
I realized it was the same guy again so I answered the same way with a high pitched "Hi, hello, hey!"
He got all po'd and started cussing me out. I hung up the phone and he didn't call back.
This works for calls from India, banks, or whatever. For any telemarketing calls I just press "2" and hang up.

I'm guessing this is a landline, rather than cell? With my cellphone I can turn down the volume or turn on the "do not disturb" feature. I wish I could do the same with the landline. I would get rid of the landline, but my wife wants it, just in case....

We also have a land line, but the phone itself has an answering machine, so people can leave messages (and we can screen calls).

For some reason (knock on wood), we're not getting any scam calls. Not sure why but, if I had to guess, I think our ISP (through which we get both internet and the phone line) is blocking them.

My husband refuses to get rid of the landline, just in case…. he has a point about having given out the number for years. I think I’ve finally broken him of the habit of still using it sometimes.

The medical system sometimes hires people to call from their own numbers. At least twice lately, we were lucky to answer. Once they didn’t leave a message because they were looking for someone who could have filled in right away for a cancelled appointment. For some reason they can’t get the idea to call our cells, no matter how many times they’re asked.

I was having some issues with the same, yet it's always a different number. Who was it? Kaiser Permanente! "We'd like to schedule you for a flu shot"

These dang calls were coming from Northern California, Southern California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa and Oregon.......

🤨🤨🤨🤨

I got a call from someone at my bank. This is a major bank. Something 'year end checking in.' Legit? I don't know but I'm not discussing anything regarding my banking with someone who calls ME! I think I might have got this before but I'm not playing, real or not. I just stated I didn't need to discuss anything.

Those of you with a land line could get a blocking device like I have. I love it!!!!! It is a Digitone and it will block up to 1000 callers. This is the link to the one I have: https://digitone.com/
You won't regret it. It has blocked so many telemarketers now, most pf them have finally given up. It is worth every penny to me!

This is why I have a separate number for voice mail only. I give this number to doctor, government, etc. I get a notification via email, listen to the message, and call them back. I never get spam calls at this number.

Everyone else knows they're supposed to text or email.

My phone ringer is turned off. If I get a phone call or message on my actual phone, I simply ignore it.
