Who was the first celebrity you met?

Lou Brock. Little league trophy ceremony. Years later I helped my brother do some electrical work at his apartment. Unsure if I met him again there.

At different times, separated by decades, I saw Tiny Tim and Patrick Macnee, (of The Avengers), at Toronto Airport....I didn't really meet them, but they both spoke to me......"Get out of my way" they said.

Oh, and Michael Masden, (Reservoir Dogs) when I was walking my Border along Sea Level Drive in Malibu, glowered at me as he put his garbage container out.

(Now I walk around wearing sunglasses and saying "No autographs please" to people who have no idea who I am.)

I met Mother Teresa, John Travolta, Karen Allen, Andy Rooney, that guy from the Jeffersons TV show who played their neighbor and had a bad back, I forgot his name, and Caroline Kennedy who is famous but not really a celeb.

I had to take photo sessions with some celebrities - George Burns, Debbie Reynolds. Ms. Reynolds wasn't shy, but I was - at 16. Before the photo, she grabbed my arm, put it around her & said, "Hey...you NEVER stand next to a beautiful woman without touching her!"

I was at the TV studio for more photos with the cast of "Green Acres." I've always loved animals, so when I was wandering around the studio, I found that huge pig that was on the show. I sat on the floor & he sat next to me. After an hour, the photographer found me & said, "Where the hell have you been; we've been looking for you for an hour; ya know how much time costs here?" Well....no, I didn't know, & didn't care; I'd rather spend time with an animal than most people, anyway.

When I was around 20, I drove to Las Vegas with friends. We arrived at 2am & were walking around the casino at Ceasar's Palace. I saw Lorne Greene chatting with George Burns. He must have been filming a "Bonanza" episode; he was dressed exactly as he dressed on the show. A couple of teen-age girls walked by & one of them said, "Ooooh, George, you're so sexy." Lorne said, "Hey....what about me?" All of us LOL'd.

23 years ago, I flew to Youngstown, OH for my cousin's wedding. The flight stopped in Houston, TX for a couple of hours. I was in the restroom washing my hands & Brian Dennehy walked in. We chatted for a minute. I remember thinking, "Even when he smiles, he looks like he's angry."

I was on a lunch break from work & I was sitting in my car in front of a health food store. I noticed a guy parked next to me sitting in his car. He was slumped down in the seat with his head down, eating. A couple of girls walked by his car & started giggling; they recognized him - Dennis Weaver. He signed a napkin for them, then looked at me, frustrated. I said to him, "Well, nice try at not being recognized."

I was in a restaurant with my girlfriend. David Soul walked in, dressed exactly as he dressed on "Starsky & Hutch;" that brown jacket & blue jeans. My girlfriend really liked him & she wanted an autograph. I said maybe she shouldn't bother him. She couldn't resist. He was really nice; he autographed a napkin & wrote "Much Joy, Andrea" on it.

The first celebrity I met was Julia Child. It was in the 70s, at Abrahan & Straus store, Brooklyn. She was on a book tour and she fed every in the audience with an egg dish. It was good. She was tall, 6'2". Really nice person. Who was the first celebrity you met?
The first celebrity I met was Rick Searfoss, NASA astronaut... talk about fascinating stories! He piloted the Space Shuttle Columbia about ten years before the disaster. He also flew Atlantis. Sadly he passed away four years ago at just 62. 😢

I was about six when Chuck Yeager (test pilot guy) came to visit his sister who lived next door.

What was Mother Teresa like, Chic?

Why were you doing photo ops Win? Were you a child actor? Did you think Debbie Reynolds was as beautiful as she did??

Oh my, I had such a crush on that man! And David Cassidy. And Bobby Sherman. :giggle:

The first one? Telly Savalas. The cast and crew of a TV show were filming a pilot and staying at the same hotel where we were at a Christmas party. He asked me to dance. He probably asked because I was blonde and wearing a silver lamé minidress.

I saw quite a few celebrities in my day, but only conversed briefly with James Doohan (Scotty of Star Trek fame).

The rest were coincidental encounters where I just happened to see them in my everyday travels.

While living for a few years in CT, my wife and I got to watch Robert DeNiro, for a week, film outdoor scenes for the movie, "Jacknife". The filming was around the block from the place we were renting. How convenient was that?

Oh, and we saw Jane Pauley (TV hostess) and Garry Trudeau (Doonesbury comic creator) in a pharmacy in CT. She dropped a stuffed animal and I picked it up for her without even realizing who she was. It was the pharmacist who said to us after they left,, "Do you know who that was?"
