Hey, how's it going today for you? It's 2023. An alternate thread for different people.

My goodness, Ruthanne, I have learned so much. First is how much I didn’t know. Second, is how expensive it can be. I sold a big house and bought a small house 10 years ago and my plan has been to age in place here. About a year ago I fell, broke a hip, had surgery, recovered and realized my plan was not complete. So, while aging in place is still my first plan I realized I need a backup. I’ve just begun looking around at Independent Living facilities that have Assisted Living too. I’m not planning an immediate move but I want to have an idea of where I might go if I need to. It makes my head swim.
That's great you've checked out different accomodations just in case. Breaking a hip must have been rough. Did you have anyone to help you with your recovery?

I did, daughters and a granddaughter. They were great. However, I don’t want to depend on them again. They are willing but have busy lives of their own. Next time it might not be something temporary.

I don't want to but I have to get dressed and go to the pharmacy to pick up medcine, I have been putting if off. The weather is supposed to turn cold, rain and maybe some light dusting of snow. I love the cold and rain but I like to be snug inside not out in the middle of it.

Trying to think if there is anything I else I need while I am out. It is a sad state of affairs when you don't have the desire to get out.

I too had to go out for medicine. I just put my coat on and went even though it looked so snowy and gloomy out there. At least after we do something we don't want to we feel somewhat better for going. I have many days where I don't feel like doing a darn thing.

I am halfway there, just took a long needed hot shower. Dry my hair, get dressed and I will be on the way. Think I will run by walmart and pick up some more of my cheaps sodas. That should keep me through the week.

Still waiting on a call about my physical therapy. I know I need to do it but I will not like going to do it. They are finding a place closer to me than at the ortho's place. At least that will make it easier.

Great minds think alike! I just took a really hot shower and it felt so good to get cleaned up. Sometimes I neglect to take a bath or shower. I then do a sink bath but don't feel as clean as when I take a shower.

I gave up on physical therapy. The one lady was rude in my opinion. So I quit.

That's wonderful you had their help. We never know what can happen next. I try not to think about those things for too long. I tend to get depressed.

Well, got out there, got the prescriptions. Went to Walmart, the only had 5 two liter bottles of diet cola. I grabbed one of their pineapple sodas as well. Grapes were low in stock and looked horrible. Just a glance at the egg area, it was mostly empty. Grabbed a bag of cheddar/jack cheese for meals this week. Grabbed a bottle of windex and dish soap. I knew I needed them but would have forgot it I had not walked the store.

All I do is whine....I don't want to go....then I feel better when I get home just by a simple errand. I am going to have to force myself to get out every couple of days, even it is just a walk around the block.

Last thing, there was this big burly bearded guy carrying a little tiny white schnaunzer. I had never seen a white schnaunzer. She could not have weighed 5 pounds. He had her in a little pink sweater with pearls. I had to stop him to talk to the puppy. Here was the schocker, she was not a puppy but 7 years old, a toy of the breed. Oh my gosh, she was so sweet. I was happy that I got to see such a sweet pup.

I never saw a white shnauzer either! We gotta vent about things. It helps release the tensions. Good for you in getting out there 🙂

Some straighting up, dishwasher unloaded, kitchen sink had a nice scrub. Don't know why I did that, going to put my little trouble maker in there for a bath and trim up. SHUssssssssH don't tell him. I have to sneak up or off under the bed he goes. Just have to scrub down the sinks and counter tops when we are done, He loves to be a butthead and give me a good shake down when he is wet.

I used to take him into the shower for this but I have a hard time getting up and down now. Where is the will, there is the way! LOL

Is it a cat or dog you are going to bathe,? If it's a cat good luck to you with that. I never bathed s cat. Maybe you are talking about a dog though. I really need to deep clean my sinks too. Thanks for the reminder 😃🌻

It is a dog, my mr. stinky!! he is always getting into something, always get things caught in his fur and also the one that struggles the most with getting cleaned up. No, I have never bathed a cat but I think cats are much better with staying clean. I have never seen a cat just out rolling in the dirt or grass.

Yes it is good to deep clean the sink, I also put baking soda, vinegar down to keep build up, smell away from the pipes. I put lemon or orange peels thru the disposal to keep it fresh.

I am one of us who has a cat, and it's true that when healthy and young, they rarely need to be bathed; they keep themselves clean, usually.
Mine is older though, and is often in need of my helpful attention that way, even though she is strictly indoors with me. Not actual baths, but frequent tending.

Her ears, and toes, and all four paws' claws, need careful cleaning or they bother her a lot. And her fur gets matted which it did not, when she was younger, so there's much more frequent and careful combing and brushing needed, too. (or it's knotted and in tangled tufts)

She doesn't love having any of it done,
and varies how much ( or how little!) she decides to cooperate.😼😸

I've got to go out in the morning, tomorrow,
despite that it's very cold and very snowy, and a terribly draining outing for me, and poor time of year for it, but I've waited for months for this long, dental appointment, and I need to go to it.

I enjoyed reading all of the posts each of you shared.
Thank you for those.

Oh you're giving me some good ideas for my sink, thanks!¡. That's better that you will give your dog a bath. I'd be scared as hell to bathe a cat... 🤣

Sounds like you take good care of your cat. I bet the cat is grateful deep down inside.

I have a lavender mist spray specifically made for better sleep... a little in the air, a little on the pillow. Didn't work. :( (But I have the best smelling pillow cases in town!) (y)
I think I had some of that lavender scent mist too at one time. It didn't make me sleep but, like you said, it made my bed smell real inviting! lol
I have some Badger Balm lavender. It comes in a little tin. I keep it under the pillow next to me. Sometimes I open it and breathe it in real deep or put some under my nose. Which I think is kind of gross but I read online that's what you are supposed to do for sleep. I think it helps sometimes.

I have only had one cat, when I was a child. I do know that they need to have their nails clipped, they need their ears cleaned and regular brushing if they have long hair, just like a dog. Excuse me for asking but do they also require their anal glands expressed like dogs. That is most unpleasant for not only us humans but I don't think the dog is thrilled about it either. Maybe that is why the two littles I have hate bath time. The big dog has to be done at the groomer. My dogs also hate the nail trim, I am very careful not to go to short into the quick but I have the feeling the groomer is not as cautious as I am. That maybe why they throw a fit.

Sorry you have to get out in bad weather. That is why I went out today, our weather is turning cold and wet. I also hate the dentist, let me rephrase that, I love my dentist I just don't appreciate the procedures we often require. Since you say you have waited, don't put it off, go and get it over with. You will be relieved and not have to worry about it later. Our teeth are important and we should do what is needed for good dental health.

I have found that is just as important to my dogs. Sometimes I spend more money on them going to the beauty shop, getting their teeth cleaned and seeing the doctor than I do for me. LOL

Blessed, I know for me if I stay in the house too many days in a row I get depressed. When we had big storms and I couldn’t leave for 5 days it was awful.

In decent weather I walk daily and in bad weather I exercise inside. Sometimes I split my errands into a couple of days just to get out more often.

I agree, I have been only been getting out about once a week. I just don't go out unless I have a reason to. Now I realize, it is not good. I even went for a walk this evening. I have the mall and library have a mile away. I used to sneak off to the library when I just needed a break from home, just a quiet place to refocus. The mall, always thought I had to shop, but I can go and walk, people watch, get an ice cream or something.

Today I'm going to be sleeping or relaxing. I have to go out Wednesday and Thursday for appointments. I can't wait to get them over with.andI always look forward to being back home in the big blanket with Suzy dog.
