John Denver
I'm not a Tom Jones fan Per se... he was my mother Era... I grew up listening to his songs on the radio, and because of that always felt he was an old person's singer. Of course now I realise he's a brilliant singer.. I mean dismissing him as an easy listening singer etc.. is doing that man an injustice, he could sing the phone book and make it sound brilliant..
..so I think of all popular singers, he's the King... he can sing without music without going off key, he can sing any Genre of music and make it sound brilliant...
... but of course I have my own favourite singers, but they usually can only sing in their own style and genre...like Willie Nelson, and Neil Diamond, and James Taylor...for example
Nat King Cole
Dean Martin
Doris Day
Ella Fitzgerald
Sarah Vaughan
Matt Munro
I have to admit my favourite group singers are The Bee Gees. Their harmonies and perfect. Tom Jones, Nat King Cole, Englebert Humperdinck,Oh dear, this baby boomer's taste in music goes back much further. Influenced by dance I do so love dancing The Rumba to Dean Martin's "Sway."
How we love the combined voices of The Andrews Sisters, how we love jiving to The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.
I discovered Matt Munro when I was stationed in France. I sometimes hopped over to England on time off and that's where I heard him for the first time. Loved his voice at once. When he came to the US years later, I'd go to Vegas once in awhile to see one of his shows.Matt Munro, a favourite of my dadās. I gained an appreciation of him through my dad. And through watching a rerun of the 1966 movie, Born Free. And later the movie āThe Italian Jobā (opening scene), when the movie was shown on TV as a kid, where Matt is singing, On Days Like These.
Matt Munro, the British Frank Sinatra??
I convinced myself I wasnāt going to post another video. Oh well.
Wow, exactly, what a range.A new voice. What a range!
My boyfriend would love this, huge Queen and Freddie Mercury fan. I'll have to send him these links.I was at first never a fan of Freddie Mercury. I didnāt dislike him, I just wasnāt that interested. Then I saw him on Live Aid; singing and running around the stage. He seems to sing when heās shouting too. Some how I still see him as being alive.
Here warming up with the audience. Whoās doing the better warm up, Freddie or the audience?
Aw, your new avatar is sweet.I love music, have always loved music... there is no day goes by without music in my life...therefore I have a long list of favourite singers and musicians.. but I won't list them , most people have got long lists.. but just to say I really love David Gates.. and Greg Lake... Not above all others, but that's just 2 of my favourite singers/musicians
I love his music; actually think I have a couple songs on my Spotify list.Elvis was a very underrated singer because of all the other attention he received. "If I Can Dream" is masterful.
