What Kind of Sense of Humor do You Have?

According to the article I linked below, there are 4 kinds of humor. Affiliative, Self-Enhancing, Aggressive, and Self-Defeating.

Affiliative humor means cracking jokes, engaging in banter, and otherwise using humor to make others like us.

Self-enhancing humor is an optimistic, coping humor, characterized by the ability to laugh at yourself or at the absurdity of a situation and feel better as a result.

Aggressive humor is characterized by sarcasm, teasing, criticism, and ridicule.

Self-defeating humor is attempting to get others to like us by putting ourselves down.

The lines between humor styles aren’t hard and fast, however, nor are the categories mutually exclusive — everyone’s individual sense of humor is a unique combination of all four styles).

That's a good, comprehensive quiz! I got "self-defeating" humor, which isn't surprising. I also like smart dark or gallows humor.

You have a mostly affiliative sense of humor.

Everyone's sense of humor is a mix of all four styles, but yours leans most heavily toward affiliative, meaning you're good at cracking jokes and trading banter to build connections with other people.

That's probably true. I went to the dentist yesterday and joked around with the dentist and hygienist quite a bit. And the secretary, too.

Just me, but the older I get ... the more humor I seem to find in everyday life.

I left serious thinking behind me years ago, and I like it that way.
I'm right there with you, especially at work where their crises are often so silly that all I can do is laugh.

As for serious thinking? I left it behind, too. Life gets shorter and shorter, and I'm not gonna waste minute of it thinking seriously about much of anything.
