R.I.P Our Beloved Queen Elizabeth ... please leave your comments or memories here

This beloved queen was the only reason I was a monarchist here in Canada!
..and even for many here in the UK.. the monarchy without Elizabeth is no longer relevant to them.

In some ways ..losing her was like losing our mother or grandmother. Here I am at 68 years old.. until she died last September I've never known a world where she wasn't Queen... . She was born the same week as my father... and she became Queen when my mother was just 18 years old..

Although King Charles will never garner as much respect from his subjects that his mother the Queen had, she taught him the business and I feel that he will make a good King. He is so far sighted in respect to climate change, growing organics, public policy, a very hard working man. Though he might have to learn to hold his tongue:) Going forward we can see the changes happening that he has made during the last few months.
Not only is he having to do all things royal but he has to deal with numerous family problems it seems almost every day. Their family life is a train wreck but he holds his head up high. I am happy that he is getting the chance to make his mark together with the support of most members of his family.

King Charles will have a hard time being accepted and loved like QEII! As a matter of fact, all too many Canadians are already wishing for an elected Head of State! At least according to this research:

I think that he's made a huge mistake where the people are concerned by making Camilla ''Queen'' rather than Consort.. That's what's going to go a long way to making Charles less popular than he could have been as King.. ..

It probably won't happen in what's left of my lifetime, but I think that Britain will become a republic, ruled by a President who will spend considerable amounts of time living in the spendour of the palaces.
Same toffee in a different wrapper. 😊

Patrick Jephson Princess Dianas Private secretary has written a long article in today's Mail.. and it's not complimentary towards Camilla..

he's a snippet from his story...

For good measure, journalists are still being fed a well-worn palace sales pitch about Camilla the wholesome dog-walking countrywoman. The contrast with mercurial Diana is implicit but clear.

Granted, the Diana tragedy — like a lot of royal stuff — was a long time ago. And if you're worried about Charles and Camilla's choices en route to the throne, compared to some of the rogues who preceded them they're positively angelic.

The British monarchy has survived a thousand years, not because it's a model of virtue but because it knows how to play the flawed human hand fate has dealt it. The monarchy — perhaps like our new Queen — long ago learned the art of the long game.

We are where we are, and lucky to be here, as Charles and Camilla fans will doubtless claim. A week today, they will celebrate in style as their favourites process around the winners' enclosure.

Second chances have been kind to Charles and Camilla. Yet even as the champagne corks pop, clear-headed courtiers should have a nagging concern: pomp and spin reliably make palace inhabitants feel secure and loved, but how far that warm glow extends beyond the red carpet nobody can be quite sure. There may be lean years ahead when this reign needs every drop of goodwill it can get.

There have been lean years in the past and it was then that the Windsor men depended most on their women to stay afloat — Edward VII with Queen Alexandra, George V with Queen Mary and George VI with Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother.

Camilla probably already belongs on that list and here is her reward. Big hats and the best jewellery in the palace vault, a twinkle and a matey quip for the tabloid hacks – all concealing a watchful eye on people and events within and far beyond palace walls.

As was just authoritatively disclosed, she's also the icy nemesis to those she deems unworthy of her husband's court.

..another snippet...

Next Saturday, all the King's horses and all the King's men and women will deliver another faultless reminder of how much fun it is to have a Royal Family.

The Coronation's magical blend of low festival and high religious solemnity will surely turn the toughest sceptic into a monarchist for the day.

Even so, the palace has been sent a respectful reminder of the reservations felt by many of the King's subjects. Recently, The Mail's comprehensive poll of attitudes to royalty revealed that Diana scored ahead of Charles as the royal figure making the more positive contribution to the country.

It seems the new reign — like Diana's marriage — will still be a bit crowded. More worrying to Coronation strategists was the finding that naming Camilla 'Queen' is approved by only 14 per cent.

It may not be a riot or even a water cannon. But when will the missing 86 per cent catch up with the Gold State Coach on its journey into the glorious future?

Something for thoughtful monarchists to ponder, as they nibble quiche and raise their glasses to celebrate the happy King and his smiling Queen.

On a more pleasant subject. It's William and Catherine's 12th wedding Anniversary today... and they released this picture to celebrate...

What I wouldn't give to see these two, King and Queen, rather than Charles and Camilla.
I know for sure that Charles will never abdicate during the next few years at least.. simply because he was being shown some film footage just yesterday of when he was a little boy , and he was remembering how he would try and call him Mama.. when she was out of the country.. and he said '' Poor Mama, she worked so hard, she was never expecting to be Queen as young as she was, she was hoping that she'd be able to raise her family first''... which tells me that's precisely what he will do to allow William to raise his family first!

Just found this pic... looks like Camilla was getting the Queen's cold shoulder..:D

...and this is a grreat pcture too..don't know whether the Queen was disapproving of Catherines' shoes.. or Camilla who was in front of Catherine.. either way a withering stare was meted out for something.. 🤪

I am sick and tired of newspaper /magazine surveys take this one for example :

The Angus Reid Institute surveyed a representative randomized sample of 2,013 Canadian adults who are members of Angus Reid Forum online from April 10-12, 2023. A probability sample of this size has a margin of error of +/- 2 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

the popn of Ca is 38.25 million so the ARI is saying that a 2000 sample of canadians who are also members of the ARF are accurately representative of the rest of Canadians - hogswash!! and the same goes for the survey that hollydolly posted - these surveys are notorious for using very small sample groups and then extrapolating that it will be true of millions in the full popn - some people even try to get away with calling this social research hahaha😱

I don't know why you are so cynical about polls, Davey? Didn't they predict Hillary Clinton's win in 2016? Oh, wait ... forget what I wrote. I am sure that was the one out of ten you were so obsessed about! Honestly, you Aussies have to learn to relax! :)

I'm cynical because most of them are devised by amateurs and have no credibility in proper research circles - they are just used by people or newspapers to make their own points valid! you old herring choker you!! did I mention my sister is in vancouver and her son-in-law is from those barren lands way up north west I think - where that great folk singer came from too - the one who died in a plane fire??

I'm not at all surprised.. the support for him was never hugely strong in the UK... (don't need a survey to know that Davey.).... but since he anounced Camilla will be ''Queen'' and not as the Queen requested, Queen consort... support for him has dropped even further..
