Our flag has an interesting history, and as @GAlady says 246 years ago today it was adopted as our official flag, less than one year after the Declaration of Independence. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_United_States

A realtor put a flag at the mailbox at each house in our community..
(You know..what you get at the $1+ store)

In the Museum of American History in D.C. they have the Flag that was flying over Fort McHenry when Key wrote his famous poem. It was very inspiring.
