Broke down yesterday. So, no hot water for you. No showers til fixed. Will have to do dishes/laundry in cold water. I expressed concern over doing dishes in cold, but a neighbor said we could just make sure we use a bit of extra soap.

Did not even cross my mind..yes, I could do that. Only have a few dishes right now. Almost bought some paper plates when I was shopping last..but forgot
We use paper plates all the time, buy them at Costco or Sam's Club. The cost might equal out to the detergent and water used for dish washing. Sorry this is happening with you Marie, always something, isn't it? :(

I mean, this building is 40 years old. So I guess you expect stuff. One of the other tenants said it is good this happened before new owners took over..or people would be blaming them. But,,,it is not owners fault. Geesh, Filing this under :poop: happens

Of course, we need to be extremely careful when trying to used boiled water, or even heated water less than boiling....
for washing, rather than for tea or cooking.

Many of us can burn ourselves very easily, now that we are not as quick or agile or able, as we once were.

I heat water in microwave..1 minute..is good
although I do have an InstaWater (sm.hot water heater) attached at sink..but that's about 5 minutes.
You might think about getting one installed
I think there about $100
Wow, I hadn't heard of doing that.
Will possibly look into it, thanks,
or I even like knowing about it, for others.

good point... however when heating water for bathing.. there's only a need to bring it up to a little over tepid heat...

More dangerous when having to use a boiled kettle for washing hair...

I did too, until I married. Michelle doesn't mind washing the dishes if I don't feel up to it, and now we have an automatic dishwasher.

But while I was using paper plates, I worried about cluttering up the environment. I put them in the recycle bin, but I'm not confident recycling works the way it's supposed to.
