How to I get a pencil out from between car seats?

It fell there when I was delivering meals. The seats are so close together and the pencil is so centered front to back, I can't reach it. I tried moving it with a ruler, but only suceeded in pushing it further into the upholstery seam between the seats.

You need to get a flexible claw, only a couple of dollars but great for retrieving hard to reach items.

Have the seat completely replaced, so that you could cut up the present one, to retrieve the pencil?

as if it has a mind of its own,
or is an example of a Murphy's law, that any pencil used in a car, will find a permanent hiding place place that outlasts the car.

I was actually considering gum on a dowel.

I've used hemostats for various things, but retrieving things in cracks and crannies happen

yup that's what I would use if in the same position... well I wouldn't tbh.. I'd leave that sucker where it landed, but if it had been anything of value I'd have used the tongs
