What food price increase caused you to stop buying

Have you stopped buying certain foods because the price has risen to where you feel it's unaffordable to you..or just not worthy of the increase.?

There's quite a few rises in foods here which frankly are not worth it.. and one of those is the once Humble British Fish and Chips,... take -away...

Our nearest Take-away ( it's not a restaurant, there's no eating in)... is now charging £12..00 for a small piece of cod, and chip..(fries)... unbelievable price...

I stopped buying rotisserie chicken in the supermarket when it jumped from $6.99 to $12.99 in a few weeks. Ludicrous. Besides that, I started experimenting with some store brands and found that at least 80% are as good as (sometimes better than) national brands.

I only dine out once in awhile. My son and I went to a brewery/restaurant. I got a sandwich and he got a personal pizza.

A drink of iced tea, and another one of soda,
Was $7.00.

Then my son also ordered a mixed drink for $13.00

With the food, the total was $60.00.

Heinz Ketchup...gone up to £4.50 a bottle... store own brand..(Lidl) 85p....fortunately I only eat..ketchup once in a blue moon.. so a bottle at 85p is fine for me... I never thought in my lifetime that I wouldn't want to afford Heinz
There are recipes online for home-made ketchup, and you can adjust them to make them yummier.

Most appalling to me is the price of toilet paper. We're paying over $20 for a 12-pack of "mega" rolls. Before COVID, those were under $10. Since COVID, the price of toilet paper just keeps going up.

Michelle shot down my idea of making our own washable, reusable bum-wipes. I still don't see why. 😕

I only eat ketchup when there's an X in the month..lol..so it wouldn't be worth it for me to make home made...

I buy toilet roll in Costco.. 40 good quality paper rolls for £23.89...

I don't eat takeaway so that saves money right there. But, no. I have not stopped buying healthy food that I enjoy because the cost has gone up. I pay more. My body and my health are priceless and I hope to stay fit and healthy all my life if I can, so spending extra money on me is worth it. I AM worth it. We all are.

I don't buy fast food or take-out and rarely eat out. So far, I just pay more for products that I use, and I try my best to get what I can on sale and stock up.

I agree, Frank, I'm appalled at the price of paper goods. It's outrageous!

It's a good thing you've got Meesh! A big 👎 to making your own @sswipes. 😧 Sometimes I worry about you... 🤔😉

yes but did you stop buying lunch out because the price had risen..or simply because you prefer home made..?
My friends and I are seniors and decided NOT TO EXPOSE OURSELVES to possible covid contamination. We are vacinated but have read of cases of people getting covid after being innoculationed.

We haven't stopped buying any foods we like because of increased prices. Prices of everything have gone up and if you want it you pay the price. We don't throw away money on petty things, live a simple lifestyle by choice, and don't want to deny ourselves of life's little pleasures in our old age. As long as we can afford it, we will buy it, so far so good.

I understand..we're ALL seniors here... and many of us have been vaccinated. A lot of people get the virus after having been innoculated but it's in a very much weakened version, more like the common cold..

I guess when I changed my diet a year ago, to keto or low carb, it forced me to cut out A LOT of foods. So when I go shopping, I choose a lot less groceries, and from what I've seen, they haven't gone up much (eggs, cheese, bacon, celery, chicken, shrimp). Eating out, however, has become a very expensive deal but I don't do it often.

Cold cereal. Please don't tell me it's processed and full of sugar. I already know that. I buy the off brands that don't have any weird vitamins and such: Enviro kidz, Cascadian Farms, Barbara's. They used to be on sale for $3.50 a box or so. Now they are about 8-9 dollars and hardly ever on sale at the health food stores.

I'm still very pleased with the Oat-ly barista milks I got at the grocery outlet for 99 cents a quart.

It really has, here too. I've noticed everywhere I go the restaurants even the Gastro pubs have a lot less people in them than they always have...
