Seniors Experiencing homelessness now.

This is in addition to Social Security if it is low. It is based on being over 65 and having a low income. Plus if you qualify then you automatically get medicaid and SNAP.
I had SSI at one point and Medicaid but then I started getting my own social security and with that if I were to keep Medicaid. I'd have to do a spend down because I was like $100 over the limit. or $100. Now I'm over the limit. and I don't want to do a spend down because it would cost more than what I'm paying for my health insurance I have now. there's always fine print and I've researched it all. Thank you thought.

I'm not sure where you're located but first thing I would do is start Google searching senior advocates, office for older adults, local senior programs, senior centers, senior help. Anything and everything senior related where you may find help, you need to advocate for yourself without delay. Heck even check local churches, sometimes they can help.

Best wishes to you.

Thank you. Oh, my goodness, that's what I've been doing Exactly what I've been doing. Going crazy all over the Internet.. Thank you for your reply.

I am very sorry to hear about your situation.
Could you possibly get a job working for a small apartment complex, or a church, or a storage unit facility that could give you an apartment (or a room) as well as a little cash for your services?
Thank you. I have looked into those things too.

What about trying to team up with someone and share the expenses. For ex. Trying to find a couple or individual who would be willing to rent you a room in their house or apartment? Or be a caregiver for someone and get room and board? Perhaps finding someone through the church?

I can understand the dilemma..it's one thing being homeless when you're young but when you're a senior, maybe even past retirement age.. it's difficult t get a job... or even be able yourself to be a live-in carer for someone else... which can be a very stressful and tiring job.. who wants that in their 60's...?...

Exactly all the above.

Thank you. I have looked into all those things. I've been very busy here.
So sorry no one can help you. No aid programs for the homeless? No senior aid programs? No shelters? No benefit programs? No churches even? That's unheard of... what reason are they giving you besides you having too much money?

You said you have friends and family, but they’re just getting by. Can you pay rent to live with one of them or get an apartment together with someone?
Contact your State Representative. They probably have constituent service and can help you.
You’re signed up with HUD. Is that Section 202 housing? Go directly to the 202 apartments near you and talk to the manager directly. Also, start with the area you want to live in and expand your search outward.
Check for “free legal services for seniors” in your state.

If you want to tell us what State you’re in, maybe we can help search for something. It would help if you could list some of the things you’ve tried in one post.
