Should I have a Christmas sale?

I've been debating whether to have a Christmas decoration garage sale this year. I'd have to being about 8 large boxes plus the loose items up from the cellar, set it up and advertise. I did it last year not one person showed up. I guess they were all at the big box stores buying modern imported items. When I told a FB friend about it, they said in effect, "Well, yeaaahhh, at least they're getting new stuff." Seems nobody wants vintage decorations these days. I put this Father Christmas figure online as a test and didn't get any response.

Could you set out just a few boxes of stuff at first, and then bring out more if those do well? But make it a variety, like some ornaments, some figures or whatever, and some serving plates; in other words, a sampling of the kind of stuff that's available.

I made an album of the Christmas items I'm trying to sell - 4 pages.

If the exercise of bringing 8 boxes up from your cellar & taking it all back down appeals to you then do it.

If not then maybe checking with charitable organizations to see if they would accept 8 boxes of decorations no one seems interested in.

The angels are all beautiful, @debodun ! I remember that my mom and dad had an angel tree topper that we used each year, and I have no idea how long they had it before i was born, but it was new enough to have an electric cord, and the candle in her hand would light up when the angel was plugged into electricity.
She was not ceramic, but maybe plaster, or whatever they used back then for old dolls, and a beautiful face painted on.

I have no idea what happened to her, but when I think of Christmas and a Christmas tree, that beautiful angel is always part of the image.

Cute things. It varies. Out here, Christmas and holiday items seem to sell well at the thrift stores and they are rolling items out now.

I'm sorry sales seem to be low in your area. I've already bought a few small things. I don't put up a tree but do holiday and winter decorating.

Such are inherited things. Since I don't decorate anymore (I'm just keeping a few sentimental items), I don't have any use for all this.
One of the places you might offer to donate all of those beautiful and nostalgic decorations to would be a local nursing home, @deboden.
When I lived in Idaho, our church used to go to the nursing home around once a month, and our pastor would give a really short sermon, and we would sing several hymns for everyone, and they all loved it !

They would sing along if they could, or just clap their hands along with songs like “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder”, that everyone remembered singing in the old days.
The place was probably run by the state or maybe even the town, and they didn’t have much of a budget for any kind of Christmas decorations, so at Christmas, we always went there when we were caroling, too.

The people at a nursing home are old enough to remember having the same kinds of Christmas decorations that you are wanting to re-home, and they would also have happy memories from past christmases, once they saw the ornaments and decorations.

Just now reading Deb's post.

Last year about this time I got my undies in a twist,, thinking I NEEDED a ceramic Christmas tree.
My mother had offered to make us one when she was alive.
At that Time we didn't have room for one.

When she died I don't know where her ceramic tree went.

Anyhow I found some online at a trash & treasures store in Ohio.

My sweet husband & I took a drive to see them.
We bought one for over hundred dollars!

I guess some memories were worth $$?

While there I picked up a small snow man figure.
Decided to check Ebay to see if I got a 'good buy'.
Think I paid $2 for him & Ebay sellers were asking 10$ or more. :giggle:

@Sliverfox I'm glad you found and got the tree. The local PAWS thrift store had one for a silent auction a couple years ago. It was white with the multi colored lights and large. I don't know what they got for it but there was interest in it.

I went down in the basement and brought up 2 boxes. In one, I had to toss out the items because it looked like a mouse got in and gnawed up the contents.
