New Video Shows Thousands of Migrants Headed on Foot to Southern US Border

And if two or three families that walked into America illegally were to walk up to your door and asked you to shelter, feed & care for their children you would understand they are not infectious and welcome them into your home to stay as long as they wanted to.

Or would you expect others to foot the cost for those entering illegally?
No, I'd get them a job-any job, and start to "Americanize" them. Their grandkids will be just as American as those who hopped off the Mayflower-yeah, those other emigrants. No, I don't think we'll all sit in a circle by the fire, arm in arm, singing "kumbaya". It's going to be painful and we'll struggle with it. And despite the Hallmark type history of happy US emigrants,,very few arrivals were welcomed in the US- most were utterly despised.

There's that word again. I'm not just saying this for something to say... I truly... truly do not understand why every discussion about the border crisis has so much talk about "they are our neighbors now" and "they just want better for their family" and ... etc. etc. It kind of gets bizarre reading these threads sometimes. We're America... of course we welcome immigrants and always have. People from all over the world fill out the forms, go through the process, and then take their citizenship test and are embraced. They get jobs, they buy homes, they become part of the communties they choose. We welcome them.

This is not the same as what's happening at the border... thousands.... ILLEGALLY. Many people on the FBI's terrorist watch list being caught there. I'm getting sooooooo tired of this blasted virtue signaling. And that's surely what a lot of it is.

Oh, hi there, @Knight ... sorry for spilling my feelings all over your thread, but I'm having a lot of trouble understanding why there's such trouble comprehending legal vs. illegal immigration.
No problem. It is frustrating to read where entering illegally somehow is OK. It's almost funny when various dire scenarios are used for sympathy.

Or the thought that there are enough under the table or low paying service jobs are available for the estimated 16.8 million illegal aliens reside in the United States. This is significantly higher than our January 2022 illegal alien population estimate of 15.5 million.[1] This estimate is also a 2.3 million increase from our end-of-2020 estimate, meaning the illegal alien population increased 16 percent nationwide.

Kind of pisses me off that rather than improve the lives of poor but hard working tax paying Americans, the liberal mindset is illegals deserve to be treated better that those born here.

So where you live in the Poconos there are schools for Spanish speaking children. Jobs available for Spanish speaking adults. Also transportation since walking to your door obviously means no transportation. Sounds like you haven't thought much about what the needs really are.

Since way back then those that "hopped off the Mayflower" weren't technically emigrants. The King of England considered the new land to belong to England. Since then the Hallmark type history" LAWS were put in place & welcoming those that apply for legal entry hasn't been a problem has it?

@CallMeKate , it is not that others don't understand opposite viewpoints but per my #27 post, "...rather powerful people, groups, economic powers, Ivory Tower elites, politicians, endless growth and development advocates..." have agendas beyond the obvious legality issues that date back 4 decades to the 1986 comprehensive legislation that has become politicized and weaponized.

So regardless of how much someone provides valid argumentation on a casual small web board like this, the other side IS NOT listening nor will. Thus the futility of arguing the issue at length beyond providing limited inputs on member's perspectives and positions. I from a science perspective that for decades have strongly disliked both our political parties, globalization, and neoconservative warmongers, am even further in the extreme in that I believe our fragile blue water world is already grossly overpopulated directly worsening climate change, another reason for approaching doom, and feel the USA is also now grossly overpopulated, that excessively immigration of any kind regardless of moral merits needs to be drastically reduced.

I can't say there are "illegals" near me in Pennsylvania, but we have something just as bad- New Yorkers. They moved in with their kids, so we have to pay for more school buses, more teachers, and New Yorkers barely speak English. And the locals are all upset losing the character of the Poconos.
The "illegals" are only illegal because of a law, which can be changed any time. I fail to see the difference between 7,000 people crossing a border to live in another nation, and 7,000 people born inside that nation. The population increases by 7,000 human beings

What you are failing to see is the estimated group of 7000 is only this group. The other 4 million over the last two years adds to the illegal estimated 12 million already here. The estimated 16 million already here.

Where are the migrants coming from? Venezuela, Nicaragua and more

Isacson said the migrant arrivals, mostly asylum seekers, at the U.S.-Mexico border have now risen to about 8,000 migrants daily. It's a level last seen in April, before the termination of Title 42, a COVID-19 pandemic policy that allowed the U.S. to cite fears of spreading the virus as a reason to expel migrants.
'New normal': High number of migrants crossing border not likely to slow.

Locals upset losing the character of the Poconos. What do you think is going to happen as the daily influx of illegals from all over the world is going to do once major cities can no longer afford the cost of providing shelter, food, health care & schooling. You just posted avoiding personally doing what it takes to provide all that. And demonstrated how people where you live don't like people from New York moving to where you live.

Sorry, I can't read Washington Post (it's behind a paywall). I would have read the article otherwise.....

Oh. How convenient. Works for me. BTW, immigrants do work for employers. Their low wages are a great source of profit.

I have no objection to immigration — if it is done the legal way and adds useful skills and assets. Immigration that aids our economy is exemplified by the law abiding legitimate immigration of East Asians that populate Silicon Valley and other high tech jobs.

Jeez, calm down. It's actually INCONVENIENT. Here's a screen grab. I can't quit that darn box wanting cash in order to read the story. These things are typically geo-based, so your being in the US will mean you have a different experience from us foreigners.

VJB — Whatever. Probably has something to do with your computer, browser, or? For this I am using an old iPad, and sometimes a PC. Pre-retirement I worked with several immigrants, my favorite a Cambodian refugee. Couldn’t speak a word of English when he came came here, legitimately. Never knew him when he wasn‘t going to a night class. I retired shortly before the entire computer staff was laid off, and the work contracted out. A relative of mine helped him get settled in Oregon where he was, and is, very successful.

The problem with people like you is getting disinformation from rightwing sources like this questionable sheriff and the rightwing rag, EpochTimes. They have you people scouring social media and running scared with the exaggerated BS spreading it far and wide in a panic.

They know their audience, easy targets many of whom would like only immigrants from white European countries.

Most Americans want humane immigration and care about those fleeing for their lives, and welcome them to this country. Our system needs to be improved, but it's a disservice to spread false information about these migrants.

Not all immigrants are criminals, drug/human traffickers, etc......just like not all natural born Americans are criminals, drug/human traffickers or terrorists....but some are, as we have seen.

Most of these people just want a better life and have good intentions. Stop being so afraid of the brown people, your fears are stoked by those with an agenda of White Nationalism. That is not what the United States of America is all about.

US Senate candidate spreads false claims about migrant aid
Back atcha. The problem with people getting their information from mainstream media is that it's controlled by forces you apparently aren't aware of. Or perhaps don't care to be aware of.

Added: you apparently think I'm 100% white. Or that white people are all I want to see. Again, you would be wrong. On both counts.

You have your rightwing talking points down, lol....good girl. I get my information from various sources, not just rightwing propaganda bubbles. I don't care what color you are, you can be green for all I care. BTW, not all people who don't want brown skinned folks crossing the border are 100% white.

Could you post some of those sources that don't see the negative impact for example on N Y city.

I think we all know there is some negative impact, and it's not helpful to demonize these people and spread lies about them. When large numbers like this are involved, there will be some negative impact in certain areas.

Texas has taken the cowardly approach by shipping off these migrants to other states, like New York, instead of working with all states to deal with those seeking asylum and taking care of their own.

Here in Colorado we're getting migrants that Texas should be dealing with, but we care about them and try to handle it. Unless we all work together, it will continue to be a problem.

There needs to be some changes made to process those at the border, help them become citizens and help them get employment. They are here to live, they are willing to work and become good citizens.

I don't know all the answers, but there must be immigration reform and laws to make it easier for them and us. I'm far from an expert on the subject, but my heart does go out to them. I can't imagine having to flee my country like that to keep myself and my family alive. I'm blessed to have been born and raised in the United States of America, which is a country made of immigrants, something of which I am very proud. 🇺🇸

NEW YORK – New York City Mayor Eric Adams today announced a three-week sprint to identify asylum seekers in the city’s care who are currently eligible to apply for work authorization. Using staff at emergency sites, last week, the city began conducting in-depth, in-person surveys with the nearly 40,000 asylum seekers over the age of 18 years old in the city’s care to identify individuals who are eligible to apply for work authorization. As of Tuesday, September 12, the city had assessed over 10,000 adult asylum seekers in its care to see if they are eligible to work legally in the United States and will continue this effort over the coming weeks.

“For months, New York City has spoken with one voice, urging the federal government to put asylum seekers on the path to independence and ‘Let Them Work,’” said Mayor Adams. “As Washington continues to leave New York City and other cities across the nation to manage this national humanitarian crisis largely on its own, we continue to fill the leadership void left by our federal partners by providing migrants with a place to stay and a range of services, utilizing a unique model to help thousands of arrivals apply for asylum. But our message remains loud and clear: New York City needs significant and timely support from our state and federal partners to tackle this national issue.”

I’m not a fan of the Texas governor but Texas is really suffering because they border Mexico and the numbers of people coming illegally is too much for one state to handle. States that stated that they have sanctuary cities gave the governor a perfect opportunity to test that theory.

By making other states share the burden he is drawing attention to the fact that this cannot continue. If Texas would’ve continued to handle it on their own no one would have stepped up to help. I voted for the current administration but they need to get a handle on this huge problem.

There are always a few bad eggs in every crate.
You read about the bad ones but what about all the good ones?

I was going to tell a joke about an egg.
It's not what its cracked up to be.

What happens if you tell an egg a joke?
It cracks up.

Why do people walk 1000 miles?
To enjoy an egg, bacon & American hashbrowns breakfast once in their lives.

What might an evil Chicken lay?
Deviled Eggs.

Would a chicken fly over a tall fence, dig under it or cut thru it.
So, was it wearing Depends?

So, if you immigrate, were you?
Lucky, unlucky, afraid or hungry?

Why did Indians welcome the new immigrants?
They thought they were amazing, knew they needed help, wanted to trade (liked their blankets)?

What can one hungry family group do if they live in a huge tent city and are told to get out by powerful men?
Is it all just scamming the system? Dozens of eggs risking the height of the fences

What do men do when they are on the Lam and not wanting to get served with papers.
Will they send the Silver back home eventually?

Are the bulbs still hanging on your Xmas tree or has the cat killed them? .... :ROFLMAO:

Texas does not support the tidal wave of illegal immigration, but because of its location on the southern border it is the recipient of much of it. So of course it ships off unwanted immigrants to other states with populations that support immigration, legal or otherwise. Good for the Texans!

I agree that it's not helpful to demonize these people. I don't view the media articles concerning the massive influx as demonizing. I think it's more about sharing the impact on the cost to American tax payers to shelter, feed & provide health care for people from all over the world entering America illegally.

That " Texas has taken the cowardly approach" sounds exactly like what the Mayor of the sanctuary city of N Y City said. Of course being a politician the trick is to divert attention from the problem of having to absorb only a fraction of the burden of sheltering, feeding & providing health care. I'm sure you and everyone else has read where the governors & border patrol in the southern states affected by the influx has asked for help & been ignored. Getting the attention by transferring that burden to sanctuary cities you have to notice has the attention of all states.

Considering the quantity of 4 million over the last two years plus the hundreds of thousands entering illegally now how exactly would you handle that many in the southern states where that quantity of illegals has & continues to enter?

Have you offered your home to house families of illegals or several of the 20 & 30 something males that are the larger part of the influx.

Ah. Now I'm right wing. Whatever.

I saw the other day that Windy City is having demonstrations against being a Sanctuary City.
Are they satisfied with the Crooks already living there or worried that all things must change eventually ?
The Wealthy foreigner flies into O'Hare every day, gets off, rents a car, leases an apartment and changes his phone service billing.
Yep all that money is good for the Economy. Taxes? Cash is great and close the door when you leave, please.
What was it that someone once said about Grit? It wasn't Greasy? ..... An Admiral once said, "You got Sand" .....
So, I'll go with Caterpillars' eating the Cocaine leaves as fixing the situation at the spot.

I'm trying to understand what grit or caterpillars has to do with a wealthy man spending his money & leaving. Are you saying the illegals aren't spending money but are relying on tax payers to provide the same comfort & services as the wealthy man had.

Lol, you ask the question that all anti-immigration characters ask, didn't think you had to get ridiculous, but guess you did. We are in our seventies, we don't offer our home to any strangers, whether needy migrants or homegrown terrorists. As I said, we need immigration reform and there will be some costs involved when asylum seekers come to America. I don't nitpick about cost, I also am in favor of Universal Healthcare, our taxes would be a bit higher, but overall it would save money for all citizens and it's the wise thing to do for this country.
