Wendy's cognitive issues' are coming into closer focus after she was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and primary progressive aphasia.

The care team for the 59-year-old former host of The Wendy Williams Show announced her new diagnosis on Thursday in a press release.

They said Williams had undergone 'a battery of medical tests' before arriving at the diagnosis, which comes days ahead of the release of her Lifetime documentary Where Is Wendy Williams?, which details her struggles with alcohol abuse and mental health in recent years.

The diagnoses are notably the same as the ones film legend Bruce Willis received in 2022 and 2023.

I heard a while back that she had health issues as well as her marital issues. I'm sorry but I've never been able to stand her. That's because back when she had her radio show, she dished dirt on everybody and added her two cents. I mean just saying nasty stuff. Too bad she wasn't paying attention to her own life. It got to a point where other radio deejays started ragging on her. I couldn't believe that she actually landed a TV show and never watched.

Also, a little more than 20 years ago, I went to an outdoor concert to see Jaheim and she was there with her bad a*s son. When she took the stage I was not interested. Reading that "Brucie" has this and what he and his family are going through makes me sad, but I can't say I care one way or another about her.

very often when I've read about celebrities who have got dementia of whatever type. it's almost always the case that they've been heavily involved in drugs at some point... whether that's just co-incidence I don't know
:) Not coincidence. We should try to avoid ingesting anything that might affect the balance of the mind. Hyperactive people are at increased risk.

:) I too am not qualified; no-one is. But I know a dog when I see one.
well some people ARE qualified to know definitively if illicit drugs cause brain damage... I suspect they do... particualrly the street type of drug... but that's all I can say for myself..

I wonder tho' what the cause is with people who have never taken drugs..or alcohol.. and still get it...

Sorry, Patty, I was thinking of the question that was lately in the news, "What is the definition of a woman?" and someone remarked. "I know a dog when I see one." Meaning I guess that maybe we put too much trust in "professionals".

:) Genetics? Environment? Diet? Injuries? and so forth.. It's not only illicit drugs that are a problem, but prescription drugs as well. And our food supply.

well..My granny always ate home made food..unadulterated by pesticides, and very moderate portions.. she cooked everything from scratch. .. She never smoked, nor drank , she was on no prescription drugs that we were aware of, she didn't work in any industry that is blamed for certain illnesses... .. yet got it....

I'm sorry about your granny, hollydolly. My husband was mostly the same. It is the most frightening thing, dementia. There are many assorted kinds, my husband had vascular dementia.

yes there certainly is.. and my granny didn't live with us so we didn't see the decline on a daily basis.. living with it, with the one you love, must be just the most heartbreaking thing.. so sorry that you're husband had to suffer and you had to watch... :(🌹
