Recent Amazon Order Signed Me Up For Prime?

There must have been some button to opt out that I missed. Anyway, I'm glad a noticed it before my "free" 30 day trial was up. I already cancelled or it would have been $14.99 next month. This really ticks me off because I certainly didn't willingly sign up for or want Prime.

Really got to watch those pages and I've noticed it's harder to find that free shipping button than it used to be.

They tried pulling that on me years ago. I just happened to catch it before I finished the order so I changed it to free delivery. I haven't ordered anything from them since then and won't!

I totally agree, that free shipping option is almost invisible at times. I always make sure to really look at what I am clicking on to avoid signing up for prime.

Ditto. I almost never purchase anything from Amazon anymore. Only when absolutely no one else has it. But you have to be so careful at checkout to avoid them signing you up for Prime when you don't want it. And this has probably Jeff Bezos a trillionaire.

Yes, Amazon hide the "opt out" button sometimes, it's terrible.

I'm thiiiiiiiis close to cancelling my Prime. I have it for "next day" delivery. I don't care about Prime Movies, Prime Music, or whatever other nonsense they give you. My primary product is Vinyl Records. But I've noticed that over time, even with Prime, you can't always get a record delivered next day, even if they have them in stock with a big "PRIME" icon next to it. Sometimes there's a two day delay, sometimes a week or more.

I get the distinct feeling they're trying to further cut costs, and to perhaps get out of the music business. And while it doesn't affect me, I was annoyed they are now charging extra is you want Prime Movies without ads. It is, indeed, slimy.

I dropped prime couple months ago, they show their displeasure by routing orders thru the slow a## usps...right
now I'm waiting for a pkg that was supposed to be here last thurs, now post office says Unsure when will be dliverd !!!!
Oh that's maddening. I hope I'm not on their bad list now. I hope you get it OK.

Amazon has lots of ways of manipulating you in a sneaky fashion, hopefully so you won’t notice it. For example, I have Amazon Prime, which supposedly as a benefit gives you Prime Music, with access to more of their music. But if you request to hear a specific song, unless you’ve bought it separately you may be shunted to a playlist where you’ll be subjected to B-list offerings of the same artist, or perhaps other artists that they consider similar as you wait to hear what you want! To avoid this and actually directly hear the song you want, you must subscribe to Amazon Music Unlimited, for an additional fee of $10 or so a month.

in like fashion, Amazon is also starting to run ads with their Prime Video offerings. Pay more to opt out of the annoying ads in your entertainment.

Are the additional fees worth it? Not for this boy… 😾

Amazon is really bad for scamming people into services that they don’t necessarily want but we intentionally got prime cause we buy a lot of stuff off amazon. Most of my shopping I do at Amazon and Costco cause I don’t have to pay for shipping. We live in a rural area far from any cities or towns so it pays for itself. I really like the service I get from Amazon.

Yes, I accidentally signed up for Prime about ten years ago, at least it was easy to cancel. I use the Amazon site, mainly to keep track of all the books I read, to that end I've written over a hundred reviews, so recently they asked me to be a "Vine" reviewer. This is where they send you free stuff if you write a review for them. I thought, "Sure," and gave them some tax info. That was months ago and I haven't received a thing. Hmmm.

Today I have to go to the post office to return a defective pair of shoes I ordered from J. Crew. I've already spent most of Saturday afternoon on the phone with them to "start the return." They sent me a picture of a barcode to take to the post office. I can't print it out because I don't have a printer and I can't take a picture of it because I don't have a cell phone, so If I get to the post office and have any trouble those shoes will be dropped off at Goodwill on the way home. $71 of grief.

I have yet to make a successful online purchase of anything at all except Chewy dog food.

Years ago, I ordered some stuff from Amazon, then a month later, I noticed a $14.85 charge on my credit card. I didn't order anything. Yup, it was that sneaky Amazon "Free" shipping button. You don't notice it says "free" with trail subscription line. I called and yelled, they took it off my credit card. I'm pretty mindful of that pitfall now.

On the subject of Amazon, I have just come off the phone from them a couple of minutes ago.

I noticed that an item I had in my basket.. was priced at £13.79...and if I buy 2 it will cost me £45.78.. and change... I couldn't understand why that should be , thought I must be missing something, but no.. it seemed one was correct...and so was the price of 2...

I requested a call from Customer services.. and asked why this is.. and the thanked me for flagging it, that it had been priced wrongly.. and they would take it down and reprice it.. which will take about 5 days..

However, what I want to know is..how many people have already bought these in a pack of 2 , and been royally ripped off by not realising, and also who are the actual sellers of these, and why have they not noticed ?

@Fyrefox That's a rip off and it all adds up. Fast. All I could think when I noted the Prime is "I don't want to pay another 15 dollars a month!" I immediately searched for how to get rid of it and opt out.

I also buy from Amazon with my credit card and it's a good idea. You have the protection. Years ago I ordered a continuing education package I'm required to do for my job. I ordered through the mail, sent a check. I had ordered from this company before, no problems.

Well I guess I ordered an online course only by mistake. The woman I talked to was not nice, kept giving me the run around and when I got refunded, they did not refund the shipping. Only the course cost. Had this been on my credit card, I'd have called and had that shipping charge removed. They never shipped anything!

Dropped Prime and my Amazon account in May 2023, I use the free shipping over $35 since.

Still waiting for the 'remorse' to set in.

I keep a list of items of interest to watch price drops.
Those prices do change don't they. I went through this with a cat toy I wanted to buy multiples of. Kept bouncing all over the place and I bought when it seemed to go back down to its lowest.
