How long does it take?

Takes me an hour to fall asleep..
I know how you feel LadyEmeraude:. I have great difficulty in falling asleep because my mind is overactive, and I start remembering when I was a little girl and conversations with friends from bygone days. It's so annoying. I've tried counting backwards from 100 and even reach number 1 and I'm still awake. Somebody told me to get an App on my phone with rain or the ocean sounds. I'll try one of these nights.

Same for me Oscash ;) over active mind at bedtime. Our thoughts are interesting but they keep going. Foot massages can soothe me and the applications with sounds of nature I love. My favorites are the sounds of rain. When you try yours let me know if it relaxes you. ☺️

When I take my yearly bath or weekly shower it usually takes about 30 minutes unless I'm feeling sore and need to soak longer. Btw, I also take sink baths that take about 10 minutes. Sometimes I wash my hair in the kitchen sink and that takes me around 10 to 15 minutes .

Soaks in the tub are so nice..can help our soreness. Sink baths and I occasionally wash my hair in the kitchen sink too 😊

:) I meditate. I breathe deeply through the diaphragm (belly breathing) and take myself through a ritual that I love, such as: slowly slowly I clear the table, clean it with hot suds, polish it, lay out my favorite bowl, then utensils, I place the soup on a hot pad, find a ladle, ladle the soup into the bowl... by that time I'm out cold.

This is the positive use of the power of habit---if one actually has a 'ritual' set things they do that signal the body--i'm ready to go in sleep mode over time just doing those things, including whatever form of meditation helps you get into a good sleep, eases you into.

i meditate also but different focuses at start of day, at mid-day re-energize and evening wind down..

From when I get up it takes me an hour to get fully awake. I am retired so I take my sweet time.

Routine...get up and do my duty (don't ask), wash my hands and face, brush my teeth, go to the kitchen and make a cup of coffee, sit down and turn on the TV news then finish my coffee.

Now and only then am I ready for the day...so don't talk to me until I am done!
