Eighty Five and still alive

Grampa Don

Yep, that's me
So, here I am 85. How’d that happen? It’s funny how years ending in zero or five seem more significant. Neither of my parents made it nearly as old. It’s hard to believe I’ve been retired for 20 years. Where did they go? I can remember when 20 years was a long time. We didn’t do much. Neither my wife or I liked to travel. But, they were good years, mostly.

It was tough watching my wife age and her health deteriorate. But, on the other hand it was a joy watching our granddaughter grow. You take the bad with the good. Later today I’m going to my son’s for a barbecue and maybe a little cake and some hugs.

Happy Birthday !
My 80th a few weeks ago made me think a lot and I told my wife that I didn’t want people buying me things.
I already have the important things in life and I just want some cake and the opportunity to tell everybody how much they mean to me and how they have made my life worthwhile.
That made my wife’s eyes water.

Happy Birthday Don
