Some Olympic Sports Are Stupid

I'll post my votes here for Olympic Sports that are stupid. That is to say in my very humble opinion, they should not be part of the all nation Olympics.

I'll start with Equestrian. Who gets the medal? The horse or the little monkey on its back.

At the very least the horse should get a lifetime supply of mares or studs, an air conditioned stable, and the best hay that money can buy.

Team events and relays. This is just people making up more events than is necessary.

Competitions should be about individual human excellence.

If I train a lifetime and am operating at peak performance, my Olympic dream shouldn't be shattered because my teammate Joe or Sally ate a bad taco last night.

Well I think the horses do get that

One thing that bothers me about the Olympics is how swimmers have about a bazillion opportunties to win a medal while some other poor schmucks in other sports only get one. It's always some swimmer that wins the most medals. Why? Because they hand them out like part favors. Why are there separate medals for every variation of swimming? It's about getting from point A to point B in the water any which way you can. I don't care if you back stroke, front stroke, breast stroke , butterfly stroke or dog paddle. It should all be just one event, swimming. If you get in a situation where you have to swim for your life is anyone going to do the breast stroke or the butterfly? Gimmee a break.

Olympic events change. New ones are added, others are dropped depending on 2 things; the number of participants and the size of the audience/ticket sales. Some events are dropped due to injuries and safety concerns.

I remember when skateboarding was added and when a couple of track & field events were dropped.

Do they still have archery competition? I can't find it mentioned anywhere.

Boxing.

Yes you have to be athletic to box. Yes the ancient Olympics had boxing. Yes people pay money outside the Olympics to see boxing, mma, and bare knuckle fights.

But death is much more likely than throwing a metal ball in shot put.
I used to box, so I enjoy watching the boxing. I was never Olympic material, but I did box at the professional level. I did fair. You know, win some. lose some. No matter what, it was fun and took a lot of devotion to the sport.
