What Series Did You Start Watching That Failed To Hold Your Interest?

I have to like the plots, either the characters, the actors (or both), the chemistry between the cast members and the team. I've tried to watch some highly touted shows but just couldn't get into them. I usually give a show at least two episodes before deciding whether it's a keeper or to stop watching. Here are some of the shows that I stopped watching after one or two episodes.

~Warehouse 13 (tried watching twice, last time was this week...got through two episodes).
~The Walking Dead (I was grossed out by the time the pilot episode played for 7 minutes).
~Longmire (too slow, wasn't crazy about the cast)
~The Umbrella Academy (didn't care for the characters nor the actors, storyline didn't interest me either). I think I even watched three or four episodes.
~Yellowstone (I'm not a Costner fan in the first place; storyline didn't interest me and I stopped after about 15 minutes into the pilot episode)

Some shows start slowly, setting the stage and bringing in characters.

This can be a problem if the pilot/first episode doesn't "grab" you, because it takes an effort otherwise to give the show time to draw you in. For some this might be 2 episodes, for others 3 or 4 or more.

I was happy with both Warehouse 13 and The Walking Dead when new, but they're based on stuff that has been copied to death now.

The other 3 on your list... well I'm worried that my jaw muscles may cramp from such hard yawning.

The Old Man starring Jeff Bridges started out slow but I like him so much that I kept watching and I'm glad I did. It was a very good show and I can't wait for season 2.

Before even seeing your reply I added that I think I gave Umbrella Academy three or four episodes, but it still didn't grab me. I often use the term "grab me" too D.

I have the opposite issue. It would be easier to list the shows that grabbed my interest enough to keep watching right off the bat.

Elementary
The Good Doctor
Private Practice
Merlin
Lost
Suits

Everything else took me dipping my toe in and out for a while. Now I love White Collar and Royal Pains, but it took me a while to warm up to them.

Right now, I've heard good things about these shows I'm struggling with:

Jane the Virgin (tragic for a comedy)
The Resident (bullying is not a theme I like)
Veronica Mars (not super believable)
Brooklyn Nine-nine (not a fan of slapstick, especially Andy Samberg)
iZombie (no one notices her face change?)

. . . the list could go on and on. Starting and continuing a series is a challenge for me.

I tried Dexter but couldn't stick with it; I found it dull.

I'm finally, after years, finishing The Crown; I have about 4 or 5 episodes of the final season left. At this point, I'm only watching because I've stuck with it for so long.

I also did not care for The Queen's Gambit.

My husband and I watched a couple of episodes of The Good Doctor. We like it but never got back to it. I meant to after he passed. I really like Hill Harper who plays Dr. Marcus Andrews. He's an author too, BTW. I started watching Merlin on a whim and loved it, so watched the entire series. Was a Lost fan and stuck with iZombie for several seasons. I skipped through a couple of seasons but made sure to watch the series finale. I really likeRose McIver the lead actress (now on Ghosts); always thought she is really cute. I like the other main cast members as well. I didn't like Private Practice. I watched a partial episode of Brooklyn Nine Nine and didn't like it at all.

I liked it right away because while everyone is sitting back and discounting him, he's quietly saving lives. Everyone else is too busy judging him and how his actions reflect on them to notice the good he's doing.

Just like life. That got me hooked.

I too loved The Old Man series. Bridges is a heavyweight actor, so that helped, but there are good supporting actors as well, e.g. John Lithgow, Alia Shawkat, and Amy Brenneman.

The story itself is not earthshakingly novel, but the screenwriting and good direction made it fresh, and stirred curiosity.

I'd forgotten that there was a 2nd season in the works, and evidently it's scheduled for release on Sept. 12 this year. So I'll be looking forward to that!

I'd been looking forward to the series Joe Pickett (2022 & 2023), because I'd read and enjoyed several of C. J. Box's Joe Pickett novels. Plus I became a big fan of star Michael Dorman's after I'd seen him in the Patriot series (2017-2019).

But having watched the first episode, I felt it was semi-dreadful. Dorman was not good casting for Joe Pickett (too wishy-washy) and that episode really didn't transfer well from the books.

Still, I should probably give it another shot since it did last 2 seasons.

They changed the ending of the story in the second season. A very big change! Several in fact. How awful! And Governor Rulon who is supposed to be a bigger than life cowboy-politician, is made to look like a city slicker who is all Big Hat, No Cattle.

We liked him & the premise right away.
Before I watch a series, I check on the internet to see if it has an "ending". Series tend to end the season with a "cliffhanger". The problem is that if there's isn't a next season, all you have is the cliffhanger. No answers. Did he die? Did she ever find her dad? WAS there a ghost? Did the volcano explode? You'll never know.....
That's a great idea Jujube. I hate it when a series gets dropped before there can be a proper resolution.

"How long do you have?" As long as it takes @Brookswood. :)
