What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

TCM was all science fiction today.
They had on:
Forbidden Planet 1956
The Thing From Another World 1951 (James Arness of Gunsmoke was the Thing)
Invaders From Mars 1953 (Milburn Stone of Gunsmoke was a cop)

They also had on The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms 1953. But I didn't watch it since I've seen it so many times. I used to own it on VHS.

Favorite line from the movies they shown, "Monsters from the Id" (Forbidden Planet)

I'd seen this previously and I don't like to just repeat movies rather than explore new ones, but I really liked this one when it was new.

Battle: Los Angeles (2011)

I sought it out tonight, didn't find it anywhere free with ads, but I had media credit with Amazon so I rented it on Prime Video in HD for 59 cents. It didn't disappoint. I think other streaming sites had it for about the same price (YouTube, Fandango, Google Play) and SlingTV Premium has it for no additional charge.

Alien invasion battle movie, but a localized close up and personal view by a team of Marines on the ground engaged in urban rescue of a group of civilians.

Not campy like Independence Day. Gritty military action but not gory.

I just treated myself to a subscription to the Criterion channel.
I watched a 2022 Japanese movie today called Plan 75.

In a dystopian future, Japan’s government launches Plan 75, a program to encourage the elderly to terminate their own lives to relieve it’s rapidly aging population’s social and economic burdens.😮

Trip to Bountiful, Cecily Tyson, Vanessa Williams, Blair Underwood. Excellent!! I am just in the nostalgic mood. I think many of our children, grandchildren just don't understand our desire to revisit a place that was such a big part of our lives.
I've never see it, but the online reviews are very positive. Anybody know a streaming service currently carrying this film?

I guess it harks back an aspect of their cultural history where men who felt they'd failed in their social-role duty, or had otherwise become humiliated, committed hara kiri (otherwise caed sipaku).

I appreciate reading all the reports of movies that people have recently watched, but I would like it even more if people would say the reasons they liked a movie, or in some cases disliked it. Saying "I really liked X movie" doesn't really give an indication of what you thought was good about it. What did you like about it? The story, the direction, the cinematography, the acting, the production design? It would be helpful if generally a mention would be a little more descriptive about what impressed the viewer. Cheers!

The last movie I watched in a move theater was Gone Girl. A friend and I had both read the book and decided to go see the movie version. Truthfully, I wasn't crazy about either the book or the movie but it was a nice reason to get together. I have never liked reading the book before seeing the movie version. It always spoils it for me. I keep comparing the movie on the screen with the movie in my head from the book. My version is always better.
Olivia, the last movie I watched in a movie theater was The Forge and I loved it so much, I saw it twice! Don’t remember the stars’ names, but if you enjoy Christian-based movies, I believe you’ll like this one. This December, I plan on seeing the Disney movie Mufasa which is based on the Lion King.

Radius (2017). The Roku Channel.

Science fiction wrapped around a crime drama.

Not much to say that isn't already in the trailer without spoiling things even worse. Unique interesting story.

Hilarious. I watched it on Pluto TV but you can buy and download it from RiffTrax's web site.

It brings to mind the treatment old flicks got in the first Comedy Central seasons of MST3K. "Animal People" is just that bad good.

Sort of reminds me of the premise of Logan's Run.

Apartment 7A, the prequel to Rosemary's Baby, which is a favorite of mine, although I liked the book better.

The directors/producers caught the 50s/60s vibe (via the sets, decor) very nicely, I thought, and although it was a creepy movie there was no gore or gratuitous nudity or sex, both of which are automatic turn-offs for me.
