American Accents..

Pretty close, I live in the West but have Southern connections.

For me, The West...I grew up in Denver. I've traveled over much of the country, and the places where I had the hardest time understanding people were in Boston, and New Orleans.
 
Mine was right on the money. Northeast. I grew up in the Bronx and have lived in NW NJ for over forty years. I still sound like the Bronx, though.
 
Waaay off for me too. Mine said "inland north" but out of the entire usa, the inland north is the only place I haven't visited or lived, nor have any of my ancestors. But it could could still be right if the sum total of where I lived….PA, MD, VA, NC, GA, FL, CO, CA, and Japan = inland north :rolleyes:

As Northeast as you can get. While in the service guys from other parts of the country would make up things for me to say to get a good laugh, like, "I parked the car in the garage."

That would make sense even though you wouldn't sound like Boston. And you would have said Mary, marry, merry all sound different, whereas I say them all the same - which my Scottish husband finds weird.

Interesting... I simply cannot fathom how those words could sound different..

I took the test even tho I'm Canadian -- it shows I have an Inland North Accent -- I notice that people on TV and movies seem to have the pretty much same accent as me, including Californians and people in northwest US and most of Canada, except Quebec French and Maritimers. I can't really see any huge differences in most US accents, except of course Southerners and Easterners, but naturally Americans would be more sensitive to the regional nuances.

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.
