Should We Stock Up This Year Before Proposed Heavy Tariff On China?

Well, the cost of labor isn't the entire story. There are also working conditions, pollution, and other things far less regulated there than elsewhere.

That only works here and there, most tariffs are passed by Congress.
I did not know that, but the red team won, and we all know what we all know and we know the tariffs will pass, cause a promise was made and, gee, politicians always keep their promises, don’t they don’t they? 😂😂😂😂😂

Imposed tariffs are lame.
Also, I really don't understand the hoarding of toilet tissue because most of it is made right here in America or in Canada.
You don't understand? Read my reply #6. The experience was terrifying Bob. 😂 Also @Aneeda72 addressed your reply as well with an account of her terrible plight.

Canada has planned some hefty tariffs as well.

Point being, tariffs are nothing new or unique.
It seems to me, that the common person, the everyday worker, the great mass of ordinary people are being punished via these tariffs as the rich get richer and can buy anything they want, and the poor pay and pay and pay; more and more and more for eggs and bread.

At some point, as many times in the past, the people will wake up and rise up, and, and, the blue team will win. 😂😂

Everyone totally missed the point of what I said. It is the "hording" that makes no sense to me, in light of tariffs.
If something is made here in America or Canada, then why would people think they needed to hoard it in the first place.

Fear of Missing Out?

You see those other people loading up because they haven't thought it through, so you think you'd better get what you need before you can't.

The media don't help either.

I agree with Bobcat
Another question. If you stock up................how much is enough. How much will make you comfortable?
Sure the price will go up but you will pay it no matter.

It seems to me that there is a lot of fear, anxiety and general apprehension about the future and what to do to protect oneself and family. The problem is that we do not know where to lay these fears. We just feel we need to do something. All well and good but emotion is not going to help you. In fact it is going to undermine the right decision.
What's your fear?
Is it realistic? is it imminent?
Take a deep breath and collect your thoughts.
As a side note, for example, when pilots face an inflight emergency, emotion says go down. Yet altitude is your savior. Go up. They train and understand what is the right course of action.
Same thing applies here. Hoarding anything doesn't accomplish anything. Stepping back, thinking your fears thru will yield more wisdom as to what to do.
Take a deep breath and think.

How much toilet paper will make me comfortable? Hmm. Idk. But, then again. I do have a lot of socks 😂

I buy enough for 3 months before January hits. Sometimes it snows a lot, sometimes it doesn’t. But going out in the snow when you use a walker, difficult if not impossible. TP and TV dinners are the only things I stock up on.

TV dinners for one end, TP for the other. 😂😂 As I said, I don’t like having a lot of stuff. Beside a single wide mobile home is not very large. Very little storage room.

Maybe this is the answer to the TP shortages.

In addition to wash and dry, some even have heated seats.
....... now if only I could find one that sings "Soft kitty" to me.
....... perhaps I should invent one. I could name it "poos and snooze".

Because well respected economists are saying the tariffs and other policies that will arrive in January are going to cause massive inflation which will raise prices on everything. Some of us on fixed incomes would like to keep our personal prices down for a while.

During the pandemic I never bought more of anything than I needed because prices weren’t skyrocketing. After a few years of steep inflation this past year was only at 2.4% which was great.

I have a few friends on the red team that aren’t stocking up but all my friends on the blue team are. Amazon delivers right to their house and the prices are locked in. There’s no downside and right now there aren’t any shortages either so it’s harming no one.

Like I said in my post, tariffs are a lame idea. They do lead to inflation.
However, for things entirely made here in America, what causes inflation on those specific items is supply and demand. If people hoard something that isn't subject to tariffs, it creates a demand, and shortages, and ultimately price increase. It's a self-created inflation on those items. I don't understand why people don't get that.

According to economists prices are going to go up on everything even things made here.
