My DH is a retired Marine; got in just as Vietnam was closing up.

I envy him.

Am glad those of you guys who served in Vietnam made it home safe

and am always so sad to remember how some of the public treated our returning vets.

It was a difficult time. After Vietnam I still had 1 1/2 years active duty to serve so had to learn how to deal with what had happened and what was to come. We couldn't all be heroes but we couldn't all be villains either.

Respect for those wounded in body heart or soul; for those who perished.

It takes time.

We are trying to balance our existence between admiration and pity. Others decide which one it is. We cannot make that decision. It is out of our hands.

My husband when he was 23 ….he's still about the same weight today….may be 2 - 3 Kg heavier but he’s always been About the same …

For those that are into racing, Joie Chitwood used to live a couple of streets over from us. I was a kid and just knew he was a famous race car driver. I had no idea at the time how accomplished he was. He always had some nice cars in his driveway!

I saw Joey Chitwood at our county fair. He was driving 1950 Fords. I was 13 at the time. Loved it.

Cam Rahn Bay? Are you joking with me?! 1966-1967 but with a couple of months supporting the expeditionary force of the 4th. Infantry Division up at Vung Ro/Phú Hiệp. I'll bet you and I pounded some of the same sand and walked over the same PcP.

I was at Cam Rahn (483rd USAF Hospital) from August of 1970 - May of 1971. Then Da Nang (366th USAF Dispensary) from May of 1971-August of 1971.

He said It was a Yahama 350 and it was 1968 so he was only 22

He mainly had BMW‘s most for the time we’ve been married … almost 39 years, he sold his last BMW in about 2010
He did many many trips on his bikes one was to Bunbury western Australia, via Darwin ….way out of his way to go via Northern Territory …and the big trip was to Cairns , Queensland

I like them too. My other bike is a newer Bonneville. 2023 T100. But they moved production to Thailand. Still I've had no problems whatsoever with this one.

I like Japanese bikes also. I had a Suzuki and Kawasaki Ninji. I drove the Suzuki half way across Canada.

Hubs has been around bikes all his life ….he‘d like a Harley …..there is a model he likes ..not the noisy ones …or ape hangers like the bad boys ….but he ain’t having one ….he would end up dead …so it’s a big fat NO …
